Perfect Accessory

Metal Pointus bracelets are my go-to accessory when I want to add some sass to my outfit. I feel more stylish and edgy the moment I slip one on. Wearing a Metal Pointus cuff instantly transforms my demeanor from that of an ordinary suburban housewife to chic and confident woman of the world.

 Bernard Bouhnik

In 2007, my wonderful husband surprised me with a trip to Paris for my 40th birthday. We stayed in an apartment in the Marais neighborhood, which is chock full of incredible boutiques, the Metal Pointus boutique being one of them. I knew from the moment I stared into the shop’s windows, I had to bring a piece home.

I selected this cuff. It’s my all time favorite bracelet. Not only is it gorgeous, but I’ve discovered that it somehow makes my upper arm look more taut and slim when I wear it with a short sleeve or sleeveless top. Bonus!

We returned to Paris in 2008. Again, I visited the same Metal Pointus boutique in search of another item. I thought about a ring or necklace, or even a pair of earrings. But then this beautiful monster caught my eye.

Weighing in at just shy of a pound and being three inches long, this cuff isn’t the most versatile or comfortable, but it does wonders for a boring outfit. And it’s a great conversation starter.

I made my latest Metal Pointus purchase last October at the same boutique. Bill helped me decide on this one. It’s the most subdued of the three and the most wearable.

Now it’s your turn. What is your favorite/perfect accessory?

Wow! Love all the cuffs you show. That’s the great things with cuffs, they do wonders for the arms; making them look really streamlined.
I guess my perfect accessory is a good, signature watch (currently a Bulgari my husband bought me for Christmas), or a show-stopping ring.

Gorgeous! The last one is my favourite too I think although it’s difficult to pick just one, as you found out.

    Hi Adrienne,

I love your bracelets! Unfortunately I cannot wear anything that large because I am very small boned and have tiny wrists! (I always have links taken out of watches)

I guess my favorite accessory would be the diamond ring that my MIL gave me because it no longer fit her. (It looks like an eternity ring.) My husband always promised me one for our 10th anniversary but he was off the hook! I wear it every day and still can’t believe she gave it to me.

My other accessory that I can’t live without are my I.N.C. stretch tanks that I wear under so many things. I probably have 6 or 7 different colors.

Adrienne, you’ve given me a site full of pretty things to long and save up for! The cuffs are marvelous, and you wear them so well. I remember noting the middle one upon seeing a post of yours a couple of months ago–I love that one very much. It’s easy to see why these would be your favorite accessories, especially with the story attached!

    Thank you for sharing!

Adrienne, those are great accessories because not only are they chic and from Paris, they could be used as weapons. A couple of good “hia yahs!!” to a would be attacker and you would have him running the other way if he wasn’t unconscious. Not only that, I think if you were to wear one on each arm daily you could add to your exercise reward points system (I think 10 pts per arm per day is fair) and see faster returns. Wow–jewelry, weapons and exercise equipment all in one. I think you win for the most useful accessory out there. : ) xxBliss

    OOooh! I love all three.
I think it’s good to have a statement piece in an outfit!

They are fabulous! Love the stories attached to them too. Now I just need to be whisked off to Paris to get my own…

I love all 3 of those cuffs, so stylish and actually going to Paris to buy them, how cool is that! xx

Those bracelets are GORGEOUS! The Hubs and I are debating going to Paris this spring…I just may have to pay Metal Pointus a visit, myself.

  11. February 16, 2011 / 2:40 pm

These are all georgous…unique and beautiful. The next time I am in Paris…(-:

What a lovely gift from your husband for Christmas!
And I like big statement rings too. Congratulations on meeting your Twitter goal!

I wear the last one most often because it’s not so loud and noticeable and goes with most every outfit.

I have small wrists also – maybe not as small as yours, but many bracelets don’t fit me. These cuffs all have elastic – strong elastic – that really keeps the bracelets on your wrist. The big one would probably look silly on a dainty wrist, though. But the first one would probably work for you.

That is very sweet of your MIL. I know you two are very close. I’m sure she likes that you get lots of wear out of it.

I bought a couple of cheapo H & M camisoles that I adore. I wish I had bought more! They are so versatile.

I’d never thought about wearing cuffs before until you said something about “taut and slim” limbs. An addition has been made to my database…
I’m planning my 4-0 birthday celebration to Paris for this year, and I’ve noted the jeweler you mentioned.
As for my accessory…it may be my chocolate Pikolinos boots. I wear them with jeans all the time, and they look expensive. They were $179, which is fairly inexpensive for good Spanish leather boots, and I can actually walk in them.

    Cuffs on steroids!

Your idea to do this is fanstastic….I see it’s really catching on in blogland. I like reading about and seeing all the different items people chose as their perfect accessory.

I think you would find many treasures to suit you at Metal Pointus. Their jewelry has that daring edginess to it that would go well with your great new leather bag and your leather jackets, for example.

  15. February 16, 2011 / 5:18 pm

You are so funny….and I think I will take your idea about adding points to my exercise rewards for wearing the big one. My arm really does hurt after wearing it for a while!
You are right about it being a weapon – I bet I could knock some teeth out with the third one. Ouch!

    Thanks, L.!

Always good to have excuses to go to Paris, yes? Although Metal Pointus does have shops worldwide….I wonder if they have a location in Australia?

  16. February 16, 2011 / 5:44 pm

I think there may be a Metal Pointus in your neck of the woods if you like them.

I hope you two go! That would be so romantic – Paris in the springtime.

    La Vie,

A wonderful excuse to go to Paris – shopping!

I just left a comment on your blog about the maxi dress and think that the one you featured would look tres chic with a silver or gold cuff bracelet.

How fantastic that you will be spending number 40 in the best place on earth! Being there on my 40th made it much more palatable!

  18. February 16, 2011 / 5:58 pm

The Cuffs are lovely and each so different from the other…and buying them wile on holiday in Paris! Brilliant!

  19. February 17, 2011 / 12:57 pm

I HEART CUFFS! those are magnificent! I have a huge wooden one and a massive black baguette cut crystal; one – they make me feel dainty and hard all at once! Love, Love, Love the blog!

Hm if that little cuff makes your arm look slimmer I wonder if I could find a full body cuff!

  21. February 18, 2011 / 12:56 am

I’ve just realised – I’m 40 this year!!! Been wanting to go to Paris, but waiting for the kids French to get better. Maybe I should start planning and take the plunge!
