How I Wear My: Missoni Cardigan

How I Wear My: Missoni Cardigan

Remember my indulgent shopping spree back in September ignited by the release of Missoni at Target? It must have been my lucky day because even though most of the Missoni clothing items had been thoroughly cleaned out by the time I arrived, I still managed to snag the last blue cardigan.

The same day, my friend Jill of Everything Just So was online fighting the cyber masses, scoring one of her own. We’ve been emailing for weeks about doing a dual post and featuring ourselves on our blogs wearing our cardis. With the warm weather we’ve been having here in northern California, a not-so-flattering photo shoot recently and a busier than normal last few weeks, I was holding both of us up.

Finally, while in San Francisco last week, I managed to get a few shots showing how I wear my cardigan…..

with the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge in the background (you may need to squint, but I swear, it’s there).

This sweater makes more of a statement from behind.

I wore it with a navy tee from H & M, white bootcut jeans from Banana Republic, a navy blue water pashmina, Vanelli blue suede wedges, lots of silver bangles and last year’s birthday present from Bill, a Louis Vuitton Beverly GM.

On our way home,

we stopped off at the The Pelican Inn at Muir Beach in Marin County. It’s a charming Tudor-style inn and restaurant.

The weather was perfectly warm and so inviting. I took off my shoes, shed the cardigan and walked the dogs in the cool grass.

Jill and I think this idea, one item worn by different people, is a great way to showcase key pieces in our closet that we bet you have in yours too. We like it so much, we’re doing it again next month. On December 1st we will be showing how we wear….

SEQUINS!
We’d love to have you join us. The more the merrier! Let either of us know via email or comment so we can add your link to our blogs. If you don’t have a blog, just send us an email with a photo of yourself a couple of days prior to December 1 and we’ll include you in our “How I Wear My: Sequins” post.
If you haven’t already, be sure you stop by Jill’s to see how she wears her Missoni cardigan.
XO,
Adrienne

That looks great, especially against the background of the blue sea 🙂 What a beautiful sunny day… Love from London xo

Great look!! Please send some of that great sunshine this way and warmth too!! Dolce is already needing (ok perhaps, I’m saying he “needs”) his sweater for morning business and walks…

Happy Tuesday, off to check out Jill…xo HHL

That’s one of the better Missoni for Target pieces, what a lucky score!

LOVE the Pelican Inn. We stayed there for one night last fall on our Napa Visit. Once many years ago spent a rainy afternoon playing darts in their little pub; it was divine.

So envious that you can just pop down to one of my fav cities in the world; a trip that would take me about 13+ hours 🙁
Love how you wear your cardi. Great idea for the Sequins posts. I will be reading avidly as I don’t think I even possess “A” sequin (and I love sparkles as you know!). Look forward to getting some inspiration xx

Great sweater! I don’t do sequins. I can’t pull them off. My style is much too… hmmm…classic, I guess. Looking forward to that post. Hopefully, I’ll be inspired to give it a shot!

  7. November 1, 2011 / 5:45 am

Love that sweater. It was not at the Target when I went or else I may would have bought it. It looks great.

I personally am a big fan of your Louis Vuitton. I”m a sucker for a nice purse.

    Love that tudor inn. Beautiful.

I love the colours of the Missoni. It looks like a great layering piece and perfect for your climate.
Looking forward to the sequin posts!
Hope that you had a great birthday!

The sweater is lovely and you certainly wear it well. I can see how it would fit in with so many situations. I love the photo of you and the dogs…so cute.(-:

Adrienne, I love that you styled your cardigan with white pants and a Louis Vuitton bag! So chic! This has been so fun. I hope people with join us for a sequin post in December. I never get tired of sequins! XO, Jill

@sacramento Hi Sacramento! Welcome. I would love for you to join us for December’s sequins post. It should be lots of festive fun!

@Mademoiselle Poirot It was a perfect day…the day we were leaving. It was tempting to stay. October is the very best month of the year around here and in most places, I believe. Is it true for London? xo

@High Heeled Life We have today and tomorrow of sunshine, then the cooler weather and rain arrives Thursday. It’s been lovely having so much sunshine, but I am looking forward to dragging out the wellies and umbrella and experience some rain again!

Coco and Daisy would be much more cozy if they would wear their sweaters, but they won’t comply. I’ve tried. Maybe I should send the less-girlie sweaters I have to Dolce.

Happy Tuesday to you too! xo

@déjà pseu It was a surprising find. And in my size even. It was sitting on a rack all alone…I think someone had grabbed it, then had second thoughts and put it back.

Isn’t the Pelican Inn so romantic and British-countrysideish? I always wanted to get married there when I was young – but opted to elope to Maui instead. In my 20’s, my girlfriends and I would go hiking in the Muir Beach headlands area, then relax afterwards with a beer and a few rounds of darts with the patrons…Ah, the good old days.

  15. November 1, 2011 / 7:27 am

Welcome back, my lovely, glad operation and recuperation went well. I especially love the image of you and dogs. The blue sea lends a beautiful background, too. xx

  16. November 1, 2011 / 7:43 am

@Vanessa@Luxuria That is funny because I think the same about where you live:) I would love to live in Europe and be able to take a short train ride to a fabulous city like Barcelona, Paris, Venice…grass is always greener!
I don’t own any sequins either…not even one. I have been wanting to buy a sequin tank or top for the holidays and now I have my excuse! xo

  17. November 1, 2011 / 7:45 am

@Mrs. Stranded I don’t do sequins either, but I want to own a top or tank to have something for going out at night during the holidays. I think with the right cut and styling, sequins can help create a classic cocktail/holiday party look. The idea for me is just a dash of sequins, not a full dress….that would look ridiculous on my tall stature! I’ll work on changing your mind 🙂

  18. November 1, 2011 / 7:49 am

That’s a beautiful cardigan, lucky you.

The Pelican Inn looks gorgeous. Very tempting for our next visit up North.

Have you been enjoying the cooler evenings and mornings? We have :). Snuggle weather!

  19. November 1, 2011 / 8:19 am

Great outfit, the cardigan is very cute!

  20. November 1, 2011 / 10:39 am

I loooove that cardi, such a great color! I never even saw that one in Target, it sold out so quickly!

The cardigan is lovely, I had no idea the Target Missoni things were so nice, I missed out on all of them. Did you ever find out what ‘Water Pashmina” is?

  22. November 1, 2011 / 2:19 pm

@Hines-SightThere has got to be a good reason why my cardi was sitting there all by itself that morning when everything else had been cleaned out. Someone must have changed her mind at the last minute and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time!

I do love my Louis Vuittons. They are durable, and such high quality. And they go with everything – at least I think they do. It’s the only thing (that I can think of off the top of my head) that I wear that is status-y and with logos. I don’t know why LV doesn’t bother me like other logo decorated items do. I’m a committed LV lover…have been for over 10 years.

@hostess of the humble bungalow It is great for our warmer climate. It’s not as easy to coordinate as I thought. When I wear it with blue jeans, I’m head-to-toe blue which isn’t a great look on my tall stature. I need to find some pants to wear with it that aren’t blue as my white jeans will need to go into summer storage at some point this season.

I own not one little sequin so I am on the hunt to find a top or wrap or little jacket before the first. I am hoping to find something I can wear to holiday parties this year. I never look very festive when I attend them.

  24. November 1, 2011 / 3:11 pm

Very chic indeed, my dear! I just picked up office supplies at Target. Now I want a Missoni sweater. Shoot!

  25. November 1, 2011 / 3:25 pm

@La Vie Quotidienne I think if I get some gray pants to go with the sweater I can wear it to work. White jeans aren’t appropriate and that is the only thing I wear with the sweater.

My little girls are very spoiled – they got to spend a few days in San Francisco, too!

  26. November 1, 2011 / 3:27 pm

@jill815 I do too….it would be fun if others decide to join us.

I am already on the hunt for some sequins…I own zero. Thanks for doing this with me. xo, A

  27. November 1, 2011 / 3:30 pm

@Fashion, Art and other fancies I am back, but still recovering and not yet 100% – about 85%, which is fine with me. I’ll be back to normal in a couple of weeks (I hope).

The sky and the bay were both so blue that day…love a fall sky when it’s sunny. xo

  28. November 1, 2011 / 3:33 pm

@Susan Tiner The Pelican Inn is a great destination. I have never stayed in or even seen their rooms, but I bet they are very quaint and charming.

I do like this weather very much, although it does get a bit warm in the midday so I’ve been doing layers. Bill had been making a fire in the fireplace which I really enjoy. Thursday brings wet weather. Get your rain boots and umbrella ready!

  29. November 1, 2011 / 3:35 pm

@Ashley It was probably sold out within the first few minutes…I think I found one someone had put back. That is the only explanation I can come up with for why it was there all alone at 9:30 – well after the masses had come and gone.

  30. November 1, 2011 / 3:38 pm

@Sue/the view from great island I wish Target would bring in more Missoni things, but I am pretty sure it was a one time thing.

I did do a little research on the water pashmina and what I gathered is that it’s a light weight, thin pashmina blended with silk. It’s very soft and great to wear in warmer weather.

  31. November 1, 2011 / 3:41 pm

@Rebekah They are long gone from Target by now. But they are probably still selling on eBay if you really want one. I wonder who will be the next designer to go Target on us??

  32. November 1, 2011 / 8:08 pm

The sweater looks great on you, how lucky you were to snag it!

I took a very similar picture while we were crossing the Golden Gate. 🙂

I missed the release of Missoni at Target when I was back in the States by about three days. I was not a happy camper, and seeing your cardigan, I know I have a right to be bummed. I WANT ONE! x

  34. November 1, 2011 / 10:21 pm

    Dearest Adrienne,

Okay, the judgement… On Jill’s post I got to see the front of the cardigan too. That is a pretty one! You wear it better though because you paired it with a navy tea! The white bootcut jeans look also better than her jeans.
If not for the sunglasses and your favorite Louis Vuitton Beverly GM, the first picture would be catalog material, as goes for the second sans bag. But of course, while on the road we all tend to grab a favorite and roomy bag and can’t pair it with a matching one from our home-closet.
You look very happy with your treasures! Great time and you made me a bit homesick for my favorite city…
    Love to you,

    Mariette

  35. November 1, 2011 / 11:31 pm

That is a vey nice cardie! I wish that our target in oz did the Missoni deal, what a lucky scoop you got!

  36. November 2, 2011 / 10:43 am

The cardigan and white jeans combo is a wonderful pairing, it looks great on you! Looking forward to the Sequins post!
