I’m back home, settling into my routine after a fun-filled and relaxing seven-day road trip that far exceeded my expectations of having a good time.
We decided to take the winding, long and scenic way down south by taking Highway One along the coast. It’s chock full of spectacular sights but not for the impatient or the weak of stomach. I happen to be the latter so we stopped for a few short breaks along the way.
First we took a break in Monterey,
then we stopped for a few photos along the Big Sur coastline,
and finally we stopped to capture sunning elephant seals on what else, Elephant Seal Beach
before arriving in Pismo Beach Friday afternoon where we stayed our first night.
We didn’t do much outside of rest, eat and go for a few strolls.
The next morning we hit the road for Los Angeles, Brentwood to be specific. Our very gracious and welcoming friends hosted us in their truly stunning home for three nights.
We brought our two Yorkshire terriers, Daisy and Coco, along at our friends’ request and to my delight. We all had a ball watching our dogs frolic around with each other. Aren’t their two Dachshunds adorable?
We played in the swimming pool…
and took them on a lengthy off-leash hike in the Santa Monica mountains.
We humans engaged in some fun activities, too. A delicious dinner in our friends’ home the first night, dinner with the delightful, vibrant and beautiful Déjà Pseu (whom I have always wanted to meet in person) and her friendly and humorous husband in Culver City the second night, followed by an incredible Italian meal out with our friends in Brentwood the final evening.
We also spent a couple of hours on a beach in Malibu known as Billionaires Beach. We walked along with the dogs and checked out the amazing beachfront homes of the very rich who I am guessing are so not on a budget!
Tuesday morning, we packed up our belongings and our pups and bid our friends farewell until the next time.
We drove further south to Orange County until we got to Las Brisas, a well-known Mexican restaurant located on a hill overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach. I used to go with my parents to Las Brisas as a kid and have fond memories of dining there. If you go, get the guacamole and chips. They are fantastically carb-worthy.
This was the view from our table. Stunning, yes?
Later that day, we arrived for dinner at the home of one of my favorite bloggers, Tamera Beardsley.
Tamera wrote a lovely post about our get together. You can read it here. Be sure to check out the photos of the beautiful table setting she created for our dinner. Such and eye for design she has!
I so enjoyed meeting Tamera and her warm and friendly family. She really made me feel like a queen, literally and figuratively!
|Tamera let me try on her crown.
You can see it on her here!
Now for the Visible Monday part. I wore a good portion of what I brought on my trip but – no surprise – I could have easily managed with less. More about that in my next post.
This white Gap oxford got a workout on our trip. Soft and doesn’t hold much of a wrinkle, I wore it three times including with denim shorts, also from Gap, and cognac Michael Kors sandals while in Laguna Beach.
It’s not the most exciting outfit but it was comfortable and casual, ideal for walking around with the dogs while staying cool.
