Positively Friday: Sonoma Getaway, Blogger Meet-up and other things
Happy Friday!

It’s time for another Positively Friday – posts that highlight the good stuff that happened in my week. I share a few things with you in the hopes that you’ll share what’s been positive about your week, too.

~ Wednesday, my husband, two Yorkshire Terriers and I were overnight guests at The Lodge at Sonoma.

We started out our day with a tour at Hello Cello, best known for their delicious handcrafted organic limoncello followed by a tasting of California distilled spirits at The Lodge at Sonoma’s Bean and Bottle. We ended the day with an incredible dinner at The Lodge’s restaurant, Carneros Bistro, complete with local wines handpicked by their sommelier to go with each course.

It was a busy day of tasting, learning and indulging. Of course, we managed to fit in some lounge time by the pool. I love this wicker cocoon-like lounger!

I’m excited to tell you much more about our fantastic experiences with The Lodge at Sonoma, Bean and Bottle, Carneros Bistro and Hello Cello in the coming week on both my blog and Skimbaco Lifestyle.

~ When I was a kid I remember watching a Bette Davis movie on TV with my mother. It was about twin sisters who were estranged and living very different lives in Los Angeles – one poor and struggling, the other a very wealthy and self-centered recent widow.

The less fortunate twin killed the other and took her identity. I’ve never forgotten the scene where she intentionally burns her hand with a fire poker so she doesn’t have to sign her sister’s financial documents. As a child, I was shocked. So much so, I never forgot the scene all these many years later.

I always wanted to see the movie again but didn’t know its name. I searched online and tracked it down. It’s called Dead Ringer. It’s not one of Bette’s well-known movies but it’s my favorite. I watched it this week and it didn’t disappoint.

In that moment, as a kid watching Bette Davis with my mother, I realize I became a life-long lover of old films.

Do you watch movies from decades ago? If so, what’s your favorite old movie?

~ Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of meeting Heather of StyleMindChic and her husband Scott during their wine country getaway last weekend. What a great couple they are! Funny, charming, interesting and so comfortable to be with. We met at VJB Vineyards and Cellars here in Kenwood for an afternoon wine tasting.

The staff at VJB were beyond accommodating. They provided us a private wine tasting on their piazza complete with wonderful foods to nosh on including a variety of Italian cured meats, dried fruits, nuts, imported cheeses and olives.

The time went by far too quickly. I definitely want to get together with them again in the not too distant future.

~ You might notice in this photo that Heather and I are both wearing a little neon jewelry – me in my Venus Flytrap necklace and Heather in neon yellow earrings and a bracelet.

Neon happens to be the theme for next month’s How I Wear My which will be up September 4th. To be included, be sure to submit a photo of you wearing something neon by September 3rd to our new email, [email protected]

Now it’s your turn.
Tell me about the good stuff in your week!
I’d love to hear about it.
xo, Adrienne

Disclaimer: My visits to The Lodge at Sonoma, Hello Cello, Bean and Bottle, and Carneros Bistro were as media guest. All lodging, tours, food and beverages were complimentary. As always, my opinions are my own.

Looks like you had a wonderful time! The pictures are beautiful as always. My positive Friday is my grandson is finally home from the hospital after 11 weeks. It is so wonderful to hold and snuggle with him. It brings back memories of my own daughters. I love old movies. I was raised with older parents so growing up I was exposed to a lot of the classics, and still love them today.

Looks like you had a wonderful and exciting week, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about the Lodge at Sonoma.

I do love old movies – Wuthering Heights, Rebecca, Alfred Hitchcock films are some of my favorites. So much fun to see the clothing too. And of course, the original An Affair to Remember.

Looks like you had a wonderful week with your getaway and blogger meet up. Great photos of you and Heather.

My sister and I used to watch a lot of old movies when we were younger. My favorite Bette Davis movie was “What ever happened to Baby Jane”? I also liked Alfred Hitchcock movies but I think my favorite of all was the original Phantom of the Opera. It seemed like every time it was on T.V. we would end up watching it.

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!

I’ll have to check out the movie. Sounds scary, but aren’t Bette Davis’s always?

Oh I wish I could’ve been there to meet you and Heather in person! You both look wonderful. I love that neon necklace. Wow! I will add that Bette Davis movie to my Netflix queue. They just had “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” on TV a few weeks ago and I can’t resist that one. I recently saw “Splendor in the Grass” for the first time too. My, that Warren Beatty was some fox when he was young. Yowza! Looking forward to the neon roundup. XO, Jill

What a fantastic week you had, thank you so much for sharing it with us. I’m loving that cocoon wicker lounge-glider, it seems to just envelop you with comfort.
How exciting and fun for the two of you (you and and Heather) to have had this opportunity and time with one another.
Not a lot of excitment here this past week, I’ve been in one of my creative zones re-doing my son’s room. I’ll have to share when its all said and done.
Hope your weekend is as enjoyable as the rest of your week as been.
