Insta-wine and Insta-food in Napa Valley

Some of the best parts of any trip, in my opinion, are the food and the wine experiences. Our Bloggers in Napa Valley trip was certainly no exception to that.

Since Napa Valley is famous for some of the world’s best food and wine, we five bloggers had a feeling we’d indulge in some pretty spectacular meals and vino, and we were right!

Being bloggers who aren’t shy about sharing our experiences on social media, it was only natural we’d want to Instagram our indulgences.

Today, I have picked out my favorite food and wine photos from our Bloggers in Napa Valley trip, both mine and others.

I’m calling it Insta-wine and Insta-food in Napa Valley and I’ve marked all the photos with their designated Instagram account names.

Our first sip of wine together as a group happened at Redd in Yountville. The food is amazing, the service impeccable and the atmosphere relaxing and chic.

Kim of Northern California Style asked our server to snap a quick photo with her phone, the first of several photos of the five of us enjoying what Napa Valley does best: food and wine!

Jennifer of A Well Styled Life ordered a flavorful sunchoke soup and a gruyere panini that I wouldn’t mind eating every day for lunch. It would never get tiresome.

Heather of StyleMindChic Life snapped this cheery Instagram picture while we discussed the day’s plans.

After shopping and a bit of sightseeing, we checked into our rooms at Andaz Napa. We enjoyed cocktails and conversation, and later dinner, at their outdoor bar and restaurant.

The next morning, we awoke knowing we had a fun-filled but long day ahead. Best to start off by getting sufficiently caffeinated.

And I always advise people planning to wine taste for most of the day to eat a hearty breakfast like Tamera Beardsely very wisely did.

But I don’t always take my own advice and could only manage a few bites of oatmeal in my room and a green smoothie in the Andaz Napa lobby. I’ve never been much of a morning eater.

Mike, the “Napa Chauffeur” of Napa Valley Tours and Transportation picked us up after breakfast and took us to our first stop on our day of wine touring. It’s the only way to go wine tasting for the day – safely and in style!

We arrived at our first destination, Domaine Carneros a short while later and were treated to a sit-down sparkling wine and Pinot Noir tasting on the terrace of the chateau.

We learned so much about sparkling wine that morning. We’re all quite well-versed in the field of bubbles!

Our next stop was Pine Ridge Winery. We took a lovely and interesting tour and tasted their superb wines. My favorite was the Encantado Rosé. Doesn’t rosé photograph nicely?

Next, we traveled to St. Helena and visited the first winery built after the repeal of prohibition. Merryvale Vineyards has a long and intriguing history in Napa Valley and makes wonderful wines.

We were treated to lunch on their veranda: burgers, fries and fish tacos from world-famous Gott’s Roadside paired with legendary Merryvale wines. It was one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had!

After our bellies were full, we headed to Bolen Family Estates, a very small production winery specializing in fine merlots. We learned more about wines and winemaking from owner Mike Bolen in an hour than I have learned in years living in Wine Country. He’s not only full of knowledge that he loves to impart, but he is hilarious!

We enjoyed his many stories while tasting his hand-crafted wines right from the barrel. Another unforgettable Napa Valley experience shared on Instagram.

Our last meal as a group was at Archetype, formerly known as French Blue in St. Helena. I can’t decide what I like more about Archetype – the food or the atmosphere. They are both pretty fantastic and so are these fantastic women!

Are you like me and consider food and/or wine favorite highlights of your travels?

Make it a rich day!

Disclosure: Our rooms at Andaz Napa and our car service from Napa Valley Tours and Transportation were both complimentary, as were our tastings at Domaine Carneros, Pine Ridge Vineyards, Merryvale Vineyards, Bolen Family Estates and our lunch at Merryvale which was provided by C. Milan Communications.

Love reading about this trip as we’ll be taking a similar one in June. A big part of the fun of traveling for me is food and wine (for better and for worse) – So many of my trip memories are of restaurants and special dining experiences. I’ll have to think about that hearty breakfast thing though before our wine tasting trip as I’m not much of a breakfast eater either. Hmmmm….
