Welcome to the 35th installment in the How I Wear My series!
Summer may be on the wane but for many of you, the weather will continue to be hot for at least another month so Jill of Everything Just So and I wanted to give the season a proper send-off by making this month’s “How I Wear My” all about sandals.
Jill of Everything Just So starts us off, as always, with her sandals look. She’s wearing a J. Crew sequin cardigan with an ombre tank underneath, J. Crew khakis with hems flipped up to make them cropped pants, and Kelly & Katie metallic snakeprint strappy wedge sandals. Jill says they are high for her, but surprisingly comfortable!
Alicia of Spashionista wears an eShakti dress with Jellypop macrame wedges while visiting Music Row in her city of Nashville. She says her wedge sandals are so comfy it feels like she’s not wearing anything on her feet at all!
Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo Style Files tells us, “I wore this outfit on my recent trip to The Netherlands to meet up with three other bloggers, Greetje, Sylvia and Anja. What a brilliant trip! I was nervous at first but I got over that in the first 10 seconds and had the best time. I’m wearing a black maxi skirt paired with a t-shirt and a statement necklace that makes the panther look like she is wearing a crown of jewels on her head. I wore this on the plane and it worked out well. I even managed to run the distance of Gatwick airport to catch my connecting flight, barely!”
Deborah of Fabulous After 40 says this of her sandal look:
“Even though I bought these gold, snakeskin sandals 3 years ago, I still get women stopping me on the street to ask where I got them! They’re from Stuart Weitzman. They’re simple and elegant and have a bit of a Medeterranean feel. The low wedge heel is super comfy, but gives me some height, and they go with everything. I think they look particularly nice worn with white. The gold color helps to elgonate my legs. I’ll have to retire them soon as they’ve been all over the world with me. It’s going to be hard to find another sandal that is such a great combo of color, style and height.”
Pam of Over 50 Feeling 40 says she bought her MIA sandals last spring at Nordstrom Rack. They were her favorites this summer!
Silk Path Diary says:
“I love wearing sandals, however I don’t like to show my toes so these closed toe slingbacks by Sam Edelman are just perfect. The style goes with everything and are useful for the spring, cooler summer days and the tricky transition into early autumn as they don’t look too bare with a jacket.”
Lesely, a reader from the U.K. wears white Gizeh Birkenstocks with a stylish and summery look in London.
Nora of Jacket Society tells us, “I am wearing a Jacket Society Brocatto blazer which is a peach/silver brocade with my grey pants and gunmetal metallic sandals and gunmetal metallic Prada bag.”
Linda of A Labour of Life wears colorfully patterned flowy pants and a fedora with a classic T-strap sandal that has a little bling.
Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun is transitioning her favorite summer sandals into early fall with a leopard cardigan, gold collar, and a color block handbag.
Cynthia of My Rose Colored Shades says, “I love sandals that combine different colors and patterns. The snakeskin and the pop of orange on these sandals were the perfect complement to an otherwise neutral palette.”
Catherine of Joly Look joins us from Belgium, showing us how she wears her favorite blue sandals with metallic studs. She tells us that they have a wedge heel, not too high and are very comfy to walk in, even on long walks with her dog.
Ana of Mrs. American Made says:
“Here I am wearing some #madeinUSA Kork-Ease wedge sandals which I found on Zappos. Not all of their footwear is made here, but these beauties are and they were on sale! I paired them here with a navy cotton summer dress and a navy beaded necklace. My other accessories include a yellow leather skinny belt and a vintge black Coach satchel.”
Sheree of It’s Not That Deep wears an Alexander McQueen dress with fuchsia Banana Republic pants, a cropped tee from H & M and silver Sam Edelman sandals for a summery street chic look.
Cheryl of Northwest Mountain Living tells us, “I spent yesterday felling trees and splitting logs with my husband, so the evening out to dinner was casual and included my Birkenstock sandals!”
Alice of Happiness at Mid-Life says:
“I am sharing photos of a pair of caged sandals I picked up during Nordstrom’s anniversary sale. They are so comfy that I’ve been wearing them non-stop. I wore them to work paired with my new favorite trench dress from Ann Taylor.”
Malia of Style by Malia wears a Rachel Pally dress with Material Girl Wedge sandals for a day in the office, seeing clients and shopping.
Trina of Tea Time With Trina says:
“As for wearing sandals now that it’s September, I’m totally embracing it. I think as long as the weather permits, they can add quite a lot of character to an outfit. I’m wearing some black strappy wedge sandals. These sandals are just the right touch for this business type attire. It made the entire ensemble less stuffy and not too business-like.”
I bought these Nine West heeled sandals a few years ago, a very smart purchase. I love their simple style and the chunky heel really works for my tall stature.
I wore my sandals with an asymmetrical, one-sleeved, layered top by Stella Carakasi from their Spring 2013 collection (available in limited quantities at Stella Studio, located in Berkeley). The twill pants are from Jigsaw London and I’m carrying my new Louis Vuitton clutch.
As you start to think about your fall wardrobe, it’s only natural that you will be reaching for items in your preferred shades for autumn. So please join us for “How I Wear My: Favorite Color.” Whether you adore ravishing red, harvest orange, or the deepest of blue, purple or green, we would love to see you in whatever color you love best!
