Women in Business: Holiday Gift Guide 2

Women in Business: Holiday Gift Guide 2

It’s Friday and time for another Women in Business Holiday Gift Guide. If you missed out on the first one, you can read it here. Some of the generous offers are still valid until the end of the year and two of them end today (12/5/14).

This holiday gift guide series, supporting and promoting women in business, is bringing me some serious holiday joy. I knew I would enjoy creating these posts but I didn’t know how much! Here’s why I am so excited about this Women in Business Holiday Gift Guide.

1) It gives small businesswomen a little extra visibility. It’s all too easy to get lost among the heavy hitting big retailers this time of year.

2) You get the opportunity to find out about unique, well-made items while supporting female-owned businesses. And in most cases, you also get a generous WOMENINBUSINESS discount code to use toward the purchase of their products.

3)  On a personal note, it allows me to help women like me – in my own small way – who are business owners. Like everyone else, I want to succeed in my endeavors and know that helping others succeed is the best, most exhilarating way to achieve that. Among the many things I took away from the G3 Women’s Conference last month, was to always lift as you climb!

Now, on to the shopping!

I met Woman in Business, Kitt Shapiro, via Instagram. Kitt owns a beautiful lifestyle products business called Simply Eartha. Does the name Eartha ring a few bells? I bet it does! Eartha Kitt, Kitt’s mother, was a world-famous actress, singer, writer and activist who is widely known for her role as “Catwoman” on the “Batman” series in the late 1960’s.

Sadly, Eartha Kitt passed away on Christmas Day in 2008, with her daughter Kitt by her side. To preserve her mother’s memory and share her mother’s sometimes clever, sometimes touching and always inspiring quotes with others, Kitt started Simply Eartha.

Simply Eartha is a tribute to Eartha Kitt and all that she meant to her daughter and her many, many fans. Simply Eartha’s tag line is: Accessories that SAY something. And that they do!

Kitt has Eartha’s best quotes imprinted on bracelets, pillows, t-shirts, notebooks, candles and more. I have several Simply Eartha soy candles that come in a darling jar and let me tell you, the scents are divine! My favorite is the “My Flaws Make Me Who I Am”, not only for the scent but for the statement.

I also have a notebook that says “Just Thinking” on the cover that I plan on using for brainstorming sessions.

Simply Eartha items make fantastic gifts for the holidays. Kitt is offering readers 15% off from now until the end of December. Use code WOMENINBUSINESS at checkout. Simply Eartha’s products are made in the USA!

Jeannine Fradelizio is my friend and the inventor/owner of Wine Glass Writers, non-toxic, washable markers that can be used on glass and glazed ceramics. Jeannine is a native Californian who lives in the Bay Area. In 2010, she came out with her first set of Wine Glass Writers and the company took off!

Jeannine came up with the idea to create a washable pen she could use to identify whose wine glass belonged to whom after spending one too many dinner parties hunched over the sink washing glasses and tossing quality wine in “lost” glasses down the sink.

She searched high and low for a marker that could write on glass, was made with non-toxic, stay-on ink and would withstand a party but wash off with ease. When she didn’t find one, she decided to manufacture the product herself. Today, four years later, Wine Glass Writers is a fast-growing and thriving company.

Wine Glass Writers are not just for wine glasses. Use them on plates and trays, condiment holders, spice and pickling jars, bottles and more. Get creative!

Jeannine is offering readers 20% orders from her website from now until the end of December. Use code WOMENINBUSINESS at checkout. These make excellent stocking stuffers and hostess gifts for the holidays!

Michal Golan of Michal Golan Jewelry was born in Israel and came to the United States to pursue degrees in art. She received her bachelor’s degree at University of Maryland and went on to earn her master’s degree at NYU. She began making jewelry on the side to support herself through school. Demand for her unique and artistic jewelry soon grew and her husband Michael began managing the business.

Twenty years later and they still work together, making all the jewelry and managing the flourishing business out of the first floor of their home in Manhattan. Their adult daughter also works for the company. She describes the work environment as fun and creative, with pets running around and music playing. Sounds like a blast!

All of Michal’s jewelry is handmade at the studio and 80% of the jewelry components are made in the United States.

I adore Michal’s line of Evil Eye jewelry. I own three pieces: the blue and silver Evil Eye on a triple strand (which I blogged about here), the black Evil Eye with the double strand (pictured in the collage below) and the pink and teal Evil Eye bracelet.

Along with wearing Michal’s jewelry, I also like to give it as gifts to my girlfriends. Michal’s Evil Eye pieces have been seen on celebrities, too. Christina Milian and Melissa Gorga of The Real Housewives of New Jersey both have Evil Eye necklaces.

Be sure to see Michal’s full collection on her website. For the holiday season, Michal is offering readers $15 off a purchase of $50 or more. Use WOMENINBUSINESS at checkout. This offer is good until the end of the December.

Anne Touraine, a French scarf creator with a lengthy and impressive career in designer luxury goods, lives in both Paris and the US. Her gorgeous, traditionally-crafted scarves can be found around the world, sold at high-end retailers, through brand ambassadors, at resorts and at annetouraine.com.

I love Anne’s personal maxim which is: “Because every woman is unique, every woman deserves a unique scarf.” I couldn’t agree more!

Anne sent me a polka dot silk chiffon stole earlier this year that I adore. Anne also carries extra large silk scarves, silk twillies, cashmere pashminas, silk twill scarves and scarf rings.

I often get confused on how to properly tie a silk scarf or forget all the unique ways they can be worn. Anne has taken the guesswork out of scarf-wearing by creating a phenomenal lookbook, full of ideas on how to wear your Anne Touraine scarf.

Pictured below are Anne’s best sellers. From left to right, clockwise are: Floral Grey, Astrology White, Silk Road Mandarin Orange, and Winter Icicle Blue. Aren’t they stunning? You can see these styles and more on the Silk Twill page.

Anne is offering readers 25% off her entire collection until the end of December. Just use code WOMENINBUSINESS at checkout!

I will be back with another Women in Business: Holiday Gift Guide next Friday.

Feel free to share this post with your friends. Let’s spread the word about Women in Business this holiday season!

Make it a rich day!

Disclosure: While I have been given items from the above business owners – three Michal Golan pieces, a scarf from Anne Touraine, many Wine Glass Writers, and five candles and a notebook from Simply Eartha, I approached these women in business to be part of this gift guide, not the other way around. I stand behind every product featured here and in other Women in Business posts. I know these products are fantastic, because I own them and use them! All opinions are 100% my own, as always.
