White Sandals For Spring!

Spring has arrived here in California and that means sandal season has begun! While I love fall and winter shoe styles, summer footwear is what I wear the majority of the year.

I decided to look for some white sandals for spring and while browsing this season’s shoe selection, I came across these white Steve Madden Orka sandals. I had a pair of white Birkenstocks on my radar but when I saw the Orka’s (and their price) I decided to order a pair.


I have to admit that when they showed up, I wondered if I would wear them much. Optic white shoes? What would they look good with? How would I style them?

I tried them on and they were incredibly comfortable. These sandals are very lightweight with a nice thick ankle strap – they get an A+ for comfort!

I was motivated to keep them but first I needed to know for sure that I would wear them. I went about looking for several spring outfits to create with these shoes. Here’s what I came up with!

#1 – For my first look I went for classic black and white.

I wore my white J. Crew Cone Denim jeans  (on sale right now) and rolled them up just a little.


I added a black tunic by Stella Carakasi. It’s called the Case Study Top and it’s one of my favorites! I also have it in white.


I chose silver and black accessories. I love to wear this cuff from Metal Pointus in Paris. My bag choice was easy –  I carried my black Adora bag.


#2 – For my second outfit, I went for a laid back and comfortable look and I decided to not wear any black this time. Instead I chose to wear white with a bluish gray and added a gorgeous orange Adora bag for a splash of color (I’ve been informed that the orange Adora is limited edition and is in very low quantities!).

I chose another Stella Carakasi tunic. This one is the Major Development Tunic and is a bit longer than Case Study. I prefer wearing long tops when wearing leggings.

I accessorized with a necklace designer Sally Drennon, designed just for Stella Carakasi. And some gray sunglasses I bought at La Brocante in Sonoma.


Let’s talk about these Ready to Wear leggings for a moment. I am not really a leggings person, although in the 1980s you couldn’t keep me out of them.

When I felt the softness of these leggings and noticed the high quality material and construction, I decided to give leggings another go. They fit so well and I love the ruching at the ankle – both inside and out. I think they look great with my white sandals!


#3 – For look number three, I created a monochromatic outfit in black and finished it off with white sandals.

I’m carrying my black Adora bag and accessorized with another Metal Pointus cuff – several years old – and a crystal necklace. I wasn’t sure the white sandals would work with this all black outfit but for me, it’s a winner!

#4  – I went very casual for my fourth look. It’s hard to see here, but the sweater I am wearing is sparkly! It is a gift from a very dear Parisienne friend of mine. The color of the sweater is almost identical to my Kate Spade bag, a light beige color. The sparkles are neither gold toned nor silver but rather in between. And it’s not overly metallic – ideal for daytime or nighttime looks.


I wanted a sporty look so I layered my new sweater with a white tank and wore destroyed boyfriend jeans from Gap (similar).


#5 Remember my Stella Carakasi culottes from last summer? I just love these part pant/part skirt bottoms. It’s like they were made for my white sandals!


I wore a white tank top and a white mesh sweater from Stella Carakasi’s Spring 2014 Collection (no longer available but new Stella Carakasi spring knits are coming soon!).  I kept my accessories to a minimum and wore only a white leather cuff I bought in the gift shop of the Garden Spa at MacArthur Place Hotel in Sonoma.

This is an outfit I will wear often this spring and summer!


#6 – For my sixth look, I chose the same Capri Leggings that I wore in outfit #3 but this time in white.


I added a drape-front layered top from Stella Carakasi, a few seasons past (call their studio if you’re interested – they may still have a few of these left in stock and they’re on deep discount!) and carried my Kate Spade bag.

I like the way the white sandals look with the white capri leggings. Very summery!


For the first time, I wore a new shell pendant I bought in downtown Ferndale while shopping there with a friend a few weekends ago. I love how big it is…and lightweight!

    Great post thanks Adrienne! I’ve been eyeing similar sandals at TopShop! I much closer to buying them now that I’ve seen how nicely they accessorize your outfits. Still a wee bit concerned about how long I can keep them white though.

    I love the white sandals and all of the ways you’ve styled them. They look so fresh and crisp. Great with the all black in particular I think. Love the photo with the orange bag too.

    Don’t you just love the style impact of a white sandal! I have almost worn my white Birkenstocks out … and have been on the lookout for a new staple sandal! Thanks for showing yours with so many different looks … I know how much work goes into this kind of post!

    Love your white sandals and the way you styled them, especially with the leggings.

    I have been thinking of the white Birkenstocks as well, (in the thong style) just wondering if they will fit my narrow feet!
