The Stella Carakasi and Adora Spring Luxe Event was a great success! Not only did we have a great turnout but the energy was so relaxed and fun, the food was fantastic and everyone seemed to truly enjoy themselves. I know I did!
It’s taken me a long time to put this post together. I wanted to make sure I included images of all the outfits in the fashion show, plus lots of moments from the event. This is one of my lengthiest posts ever, so please grab a cup of coffee, tea (or a glass of wine!) and have a look!
The event began at 5:00 pm Friday, May 1st. As people started trickling in, they mingled and they did what most do who visit Stella Studio do: they shopped!
As more and more people arrived, guests began settling into the yellow chairs flanking the runway. The fashion show was set to begin at 6:00.
Guests enjoyed lots of wonderful food, generously provided by Whole Foods Market Gilman, a neighbor of Stella Studio. My stepson, Ryan (far right), agreed to help out at the event and even recruited some friends to help serve food and wine.
My nephew, Travis, helped too. Here he’s serving delicious chicken satay skewers to guests while they wait for the fashion show to begin.
Now that is service! I don’t know what we would have done without all of these helpful and hardworking young men.
While everyone was enjoying the food, wine and mingling, the models and I were in the back, trying on and styling our Stella Carakasi Spring outfits and choosing Adora bags to go with each look.
My dear friend and fellow blogger, Tamera Beardsley, came all the way from Orange County with her husband for the event. We had such fun getting ready! The dressing room was full of clothes, shoes, makeup, women and excitement. Soon the show would begin!
Stella Carakasi, whom I greatly admire for her design talents, passion for her work and her kind heart, took the floor and welcomed everyone to the very first fashion show held at the Stella Studio. She told the crowd how excited she was about the collaborative event and set an enthusiastic and welcoming tone for the fashion show.
Next it was my turn to speak. Gulp! I have a rather extreme fear of public speaking. Past speaking experiences have proved to be downright traumatic and embarrassing with lots of noticeable trembling, sweating and a shaky voice.
I did my best to prepare and wrote my speech on notecards beforehand. I practiced my speech numerous times and when the moment came for me to speak, I made a big last minute decision. I looked at the crowd – at all the friendly and familiar faces – and decided to wing it. I handed my cards to a dear friend sitting nearby then began to speak.
While I was nervous, and I am sure it showed, I think I did a good job. I managed to stay upright, not shake uncontrollably and my voice only cracked a couple of times. The best part is I said what I wanted which is essentially this:
Since I was introduced to the Stella Carakasi line last May, my life has changed. I have found a unique style that suits my lifestyle, standards of quality, personal taste, figure and budget. It has been an honor and a privilege to bring my two favorite style brands – Stella Carakasi and Adora bags – that are both an everyday part of my life and style, together for the first time in a fun and lively environment.
Once the speech was over, it was time for the fashion show to begin! I turned things over to Head Stylist and my friend, Yarra McClure.
Yarra introduced each model as she came through the door and described every outfit in detail as the models walked the runway. There were nine models in the lineup, including me.
A couple of weeks ago, we were asked to choose our outfits from the Stella Carakasi Spring ’15 Collection for the show, selecting both a day and an evening look. I decided to include all the looks in this post. You will see that many of these outfits are great for both day and evening.
Here are the models’ looks, complete with links to the individual pieces. All clothing is from the Stella Carakasi Spring ’15 Collection and all looks are accessorized with Adora bags:
For Tamera’s day look she wore the Divine Decadence Dress with the Director’s Cut Jacket and Year-Round Ankle Pants. She carried a black Adora clutch (that comes with the Adora tote) and accessorized her look with a fabulous necklace from her collection.
Kendra of Daisy Tribe chose the Printed Attitude is Everything Tunic (the pattern that inspired the yellow Adora by Adrienne choice) with Define Yourself Ankle Pants . The tunic is sheer so Kendra layered it with Basic Camisole and carried the blue Adora bag.
Maria, stylist and co-owner of Trendy Mondays, wears a black What Goes Around Sweater with a Basic Camisole underneath and Second Nature Capri Leggings for her day look. She chose an orange Adora bag to finish off her look.
Lawana, a longtime friend from college and Director of Learning Services at a private boys’ school in San Francisco, wears the Play It Cool Sweater with Shadow Play Ankle Pants and carried a black Adora bag.
I wore this navy blue outfit for my day look. These Cool Easy Cropped Pants in navy are so comfortable and lightweight. I added the Excursion Jacket, also in navy and Quick Study Top which has a metallic sheen.
I was thrilled to debut the clutch that came with my limited edition yellow Adora by Adrienne bag!
Maria chose the black Divine Decadence Dress for night and accessorized it with a long necklace, black cuff and an orange Adora clutch.
My choice for an evening look was easy. It was a must that I debut the yellow Adora by Adrienne bag with the pattern that inspired my Adora bag color choice. The High Definition Dress is one of my all-time favorite Stella pieces! I love the pattern, the structure, and the uniqueness of this comfortable dress. I wore the Cover Me Cardigan over my dress.
After a quick finale walk by all the lovely models, we gathered with Stella for a round of applause for her and her collection.
With the speeches done and the fashion show over, it was time to party and indulge in sweet treats! And what a fantastic surprise when the fresh French macarons arrived from L’Artisan Gourmet Parisian Macarons. Whole Foods Markets from Monterey, California to Vancouver, BC all carry L’Artisan Macarons in their stores.
There were 100 of these sweet beauties, designed to look like the pattern that inspired the Adora bag. How fun and so creative! The black swath was made with squid ink. These macarons were so delicious and fresh. Thank you, Chef Alex, for such a thoughtful and very special treat!
My husband, Bill, did a great job taking photos of the guests. I want to share some of my favorites from the evening. From left to right, clockwise:
Tori and her boyfriend, Joey. Tamera and her husband, Jeff. Malia and her friend, Kim.
Stella chatting with guests. Look at those beautiful shoes of hers! I love Stella’s chic style.
