Favorite Holiday Outfits

Every holiday season, I choose a few key pieces to wear to parties, events or anytime I’m in the holiday spirit. These wardrobe items help me create a few favorite holiday outfits that I can rely on no matter what the occasion.

Last year I wore red quite often during the holidays. And while I’ll likely wear red again before the month is over, I am mostly wearing my all-time favorite go-to color for fashion: Black!

Black may not be the most festive color but by simply adding some holiday jewelry and red lipstick, I can create a few holiday looks.

Here are my favorite holiday outfits this season!

Earlier this year I discovered the Clara Sunwoo brand thanks to Susan at Fifty Not Frumpy. She wrote a post about a fabulous red cold shoulder top a few months ago that I immediately fell in love with. I ordered one for myself in blue from My Fair Lady, a boutique in Southern California (both a storefront and an online shop).

After blogging about my Clara Sunwoo top, the kind people at My Fair Lady sent me a tunic from the Clara Sunwoo fall collection. The Oversize Modern Tunic with Liquid Leather is fashion-forward and feminine with a generous dose of edginess thanks to its faux leather sleeves.Clara Sunwoo Tunic

I love the sleeves and the back of the tunic too. The high-low cut is great not only for coverage purposes but for the way it adds interest to an outfit. I wore my tunic with Stella Carakasi ponte pants (from last year – similar) and carried my Louis Vuitton clutch.

I also wore my new party shoes from J. Renee.

It’s the outfit I wore Saturday night to a fire department holiday party at Benziger Winery.

On Sunday I decided to wear the Clara Sunwoo tunic again, dressed down a little this time with Hunter rain boots, a black Adora bag and I carried my edgy skull Persole (made for both sun protection and rain).

I added a smaller snowflake necklace for a holiday touch.

After wearing my tunic twice this weekend, I was quite surprised to see Clara herself (far right) wearing the same one on Kathie Lee and Hoda this morning! I didn’t know that behind the Clara Sunwoo brand is a mother and daughter team. That makes me love the brand even more!

For a more casual holiday look, I have been wearing my Stella Carakasi Works Every Time Sweater made with soft Alpaca wool. Cozy and chic, this has been my go-to sweater when the temperatures drop. My husband caught me taking photos of our holiday tree being cut down at the Christmas tree farm recently.

I wore my sweater with an old Burberry scarf, Gap skinny jeans, Franco Sarto boots and a Fossil crossbody bag.

Last Friday I wore it again, minus the scarf and with a star brooch, to have lunch at the newest local hotspot, Cochon Volant BBQ Smoke House in Sonoma.

Cochon Volant BBQ Sonoma

Born in North Carolina and raised on tasty southern food, I love BBQ and all the fixin’s that go with it. Cochon Volant BBQ Smoke House has delicious and satisfying food including fried chicken which was moist, flavorful and not greasy at all, pulled pork done in a variation of the Carolina style, beef brisket, ribs, smoked chicken and Mac and Cheese Fritters…oh my! There are also plenty of side dishes including greens, slaw and Heirloom Baked Beans.

Cochon Volant also sells cooked meats by the pound and offers a selection of salads if you’re not in the mood for a BBQ meal.

The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Dine inside or if it’s a nice day, sit outside on one of their red picnic tables.

Cochon Volant offers a range of Sonoma Valley wines and several beers on draft and in bottles. For something sweet, be sure to try Chef Rob’s chocolate mousse with fresh whipped cream, served up in a Mason jar. It was outstanding!!

It’s such a great brand. I wouldn’t mind owning a few more Clara Sunwoo tops – and maybe try their pants too (though I am so tall, I usually have to buy special lengths). Have a wonderful week! 🙂

Both tops/sweaters are great. Like you, I’m never tired of black and am so often regretful when I purchase something in a different color, as there’s never a time that I don’t want to wear black, and with other colors I have to be in a certain mood. Love the leather sleeves on the tunic.
That BBQ place looks great and can we eat there the next time we come up?

It’s strange because I feel uncomfortable in some colors – especially red. I love wearing burgundy though.
Yes, let’s go to Cochon Volant next time you’re up here. The fried chicken is so good! And Mac and Cheese Fritters…so tasty.

The J.Renee shoes are absolutely adorable. They are simple but have just a hint of detail to set them apart. :]

Aren’t they darling shoes? I love how the heel is low but they still look like “heels” – does that make sense?
They are very comfortable too. Thank you for stopping by!
