I hope you had a great weekend. My husband and I attended a lovely springtime event at Gloria Ferrer Winery in Sonoma on Saturday for their first annual Bubbles and Blooms event. This celebration of spring and summer home entertaining featured Gloria Ferrer’s award winning wines, delicious bites from Beth Soogard Catering, experts from Flower Magazine, lots of gorgeous floral and plant displays and even live demonstrations and DIY craft-making sessions using fresh flowers and plants.
I had planned on wearing my springy Lesley Evers Becka dress to this colorful and flowery event but Mother Nature had other plans. It rained steadily all day Saturday. I love the rain so I was happy to have it but my outfit for the event would have to be a little more practical.
Instead I wore jeans with my Hunter rain boots and a Get The Look Tunic sweater in Papyrus by Stella Carakasi. This lighter weight sweater – on sale right now – has been my in-between-seasons sweater since last fall. I love the asymmetrical hemline and the ribbing and it’s super soft, blended with a touch of cashmere.
On the way out the door, I grabbed my Persolé – an umbrella and UPF 50+ parasol in one. The Pink Flower design was perfect for this floral celebration!
We were greeted at the front entrance and given a program of events. But first we wanted a glass of Gloria Ferrer bubbly, of course!
We made our way out to the winery’s patio to check out the plant arrangements on display. I have mentioned a few times on the blog how much I adore succulents and even created my own space at home that is chock full of them.
So when I saw these displays, I wanted to take them all home with me. That wheelbarrow is just adorable!
We took a break from oohing and aahing over the plants and flowers to enjoy the view.
Even on a gray and rainy day, the view of Sonoma Valley from Gloria Ferrer Winery is a sight to behold!
Before heading inside to try the food, we did as the sign instructed and took a selfie. Later, we would print it out at the Selfie Station. Such a cute event idea!
The food at the Bubbles and Blooms event was a big hit! They were so full of flavor. I could not get enough of the Deconstructed Samosas – crunchy pita chips with spring peas. potatoes and Indian spices.
I have been in flower mode since spring arrived. I just can’t get enough of them! There were stunning floral arrangements throughout the tasting room.
Including this wall of flowers. How adorable! So pretty and colorful and I love the striped tape.
A vineyard tour and an outdoor floral market were slated for the event but with the rain, activities had to be moved indoors to the cave and the vineyard tours were canceled.
The garden market in the cave had a variety of vendors selling their potted plants and floral creations.
Some guests were busy making cork magnets with little succulents inside. Such a cute idea! And I loved the tulip display. Those holes are actually meant for aging bottles of sparkling wine.
At the end of the cave there were live floral arranging demonstrations going on. So many beautiful things to see and such a happy atmosphere. You could tell people were really enjoying themselves!
Before we left, I picked out a potted plant to buy and bring home with me to my Happy Place. It was created by Catherine Scott who is a Wine Country florist. I hope my new plant likes its new home (and that I can keep it looking this healthy!).
I look forward to attending next year’s Bubbles and Blooms event at Gloria Ferrer Winery!
