Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was low key which gave me a change to spend part of my weekend playing in my closet, styling fall layers from Stella Carakasi.
I had the chance to see, touch and try on lots of gorgeous clothing from Stella Carakasi’s 2016 Fall Collection at the Stella Carakasi Fall Style event recently and added some of my top favorites to my fall and winter wardrobe.
Stella’s 2016 fall collection is absolutely fantastic! I am blown away by the styles, high quality, luxurious fabrics, interesting details and beautiful neutral colors this season. I am proud to wear – and promote – such a gorgeous and wearable line of clothing.
Over the next few weeks I will be showing you how I style a number of pieces from Stella’s fall collection. I thought I would start with some lightweight layers since this is usually the time of year when it’s not quite cold enough to break out the wool coats but cool enough to want more than just a sweater.
You know when you’re shopping and you see something and think, “that’s totally me!” Well, that is what happened when I saw the Cover Shot Coat for the first time. It is just my style and it fits my casual lifestyle perfectly.
I love the length and the details like drawstring waist, zippered cuffs and the tapered hemline that has a slit up the back.
The Cover Shot Coat is made with luxurious Natural Lux™ fabric and is machine washable. It’s also lined so it’s ideal for chilly days. I wore it with blue booties, a navy pintuck lace blouse, a pair of girlfriend jeans and I carried my handcrafted Italian leather Augusta bag from Armadio.
For jewelry, I wore a gray-blue beaded necklace with a silver leather tassel from KayandStar (similar).
I also styled the Cover Shot Coat with an all black foundation, which I think really brings out the richness of the Earth shade. I wore my favorite black pants – a pair of ponte pants from Stella Carakasi – and a long-sleeved micro modal tee from Covered Perfectly.
Here is the coat zipped up and snapped. I love the cowl neck that’s created when it’s worn this way.
I look forward to wearing this coat with winter white, gray, shades of green, and even burgundy this fall and winter.
Another fall layer from Stella Carakasi that I added to my wardrobe this season is a long knit cardigan. The Make a Wish Cardigan is such a fantastically versatile piece for any fall wardrobe. It’s soft and comfortable and not heavy at all. Those of you who don’t like wool or can’t wear it will love the 75% cotton/25% Tencel® knit blend.
I wore the cardigan with all black – keeping the same foundation of Love The Look Leggings and Simple Comfort Covered Perfectly top as I had in the above look – but this time I added cognac booties (similar), a fringe faux leather bag (similar) and a KayandStar Crescent horn statement necklace.
Upon first glance, the Make a Wish Cardigan may look like it’s the same knit throughout but look closer and you will see that part of the right front panel has a unique design.
An open knit weave with dots and a jagged border adds subtle interest.
You can find the pattern again on the opposite side of the sweater on the left cuff.
This is a piece I will certainly wear a ton this fall. I can easily see myself taking this long cardigan from a day of running errands – as shown here with jeans, sneakers and a tank top – to a date night out with Bill. And don’t be surprised if I wear it for next month’s How I Wear My when the theme is Long Cardigan or Duster.
