Wine Country Luxury at The Residence at Comstock Wines

All my greatest Wine Country dreams came true when I spent two nights at The Residence at Comstock Wines in Dry Creek Valley. Who wouldn’t fantasize about staying in an enormous luxury home in the middle of 17 acres of vineyards and gardens with four spacious master suites and located steps from a gorgeous winery and tasting room?

I’m excited to tell you all about this extraordinary property, located a short distance from the quaint and sophisticated town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County. As someone who loves being outside, I want to begin by showing you the grounds and outdoor spaces at The Residence at Comstock Wines.

The Grounds and Outdoor Spaces

The residence is part of Comstock Wines and shares the 17-acre property with the winery. It is a new villa that has a rustic and contemporary exterior design. The interior is elegant, luxurious and artistic and features the amenities you would find in a luxury hotel.

This is the view from the main entrance of the residence. The building in the distance is Comstock Wines, the wine making facility and tasting room we visited. Guests of The Residence at Comstock Wines are welcome to enjoy a complimentary tasting experience during their stay.

Behind me, you can see the front entrance which is flanked by ancient olive trees. It’s a two-story home with a balcony…

and a wide porch that I took full advantage of.

The porch wraps completely around the residence. Each of the four Master Suites has a pair of Adirondack chairs just outside their outside private entrances.

I loved sitting outside our guest room and watching the birds fly by while sipping my morning coffee or a glass of wine. It’s so quiet at the residence. You truly feel like you are away from it all!

There is a wide-openness to this property. Everything seems so far away but it isn’t. The main town is just minutes away by car.

The back of the residence has dining tables on the porch for enjoying meals al fresco, relaxing, or perhaps playing a board game. The porch opens up to a gigantic patio where there will soon be an outdoor fire pit. The patio area offers vineyard views with a backdrop of pine tree-covered hills.

We loved spending time on the patio together, taking in the fall colors and sunshine.

We invited our friends Michelle and Bill to join us during our stay. Michelle and I walked around the gardens at the residence. An orchard has been planted and there is a culinary garden planted in raised beds.

Mornings started out with fog during our stay, which I love. I took walks around the property each morning before the fog burned off, taking photos and exploring. When you stay at The Residence at Comstock Wines, you really don’t want to go or be anywhere else!

Interior Common Areas

Upon entering through the large glass front door, you’re immediately greeted by art! A wall in the foyer showcases colorful bottles inside glass cases. Each bottle has a symbol of a chemical element. The collection of elements, shown on the bottles, represents the chemical composition of wine. Isn’t that interesting and clever?

Behind the wall you will find a full chef’s kitchen with all the cookware, tableware and glassware you would need or want during your stay, including state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances. Just behind the cabinets, there is another secluded kitchen that private chefs may use to prepare meals for guests. Private dinners can be arranged through the residence’s concierge.

While we toured the kitchen and great room, we noticed Comstock Wines left us to bottles of wine to enjoy…and enjoy we did!

A chic and modern wood dining table seats 10. The four of us enjoyed our take out pizza and salads here, then played a few rounds of cards after dinner.

The striking two-story cathedral ceiling gives the Great Room an airy and open feel. The large windows and glass doors let in plenty of natural light.

The ceiling was gorgeous and dramatic, made from natural wood supported by beautiful wood beams.

I would describe the interior of The Residence at Comstock Wines as rustic elegance with contemporary and artistic touches. The beautiful color scheme throughout the residence included lots of natural hues and textures.

In the evenings, we turned the remote controlled fireplace in the Great Room. It was the perfect place to chat, sip on a glass of wine, or page through the collection of art and lifestyle books on the tables.

As a lover of art, I thoroughly enjoyed the artwork displayed throughout the residence. My favorites were the blue sky oil paintings hung in both the dining area and over the spa tubs in the master suites and these owl figures made with paper.

The upstairs Media Room is a large, airy space with a balcony, large flatscreen TV, sound system and plenty of seating for your group.

Master Suites

The residence has four Master Suites, each with its own unique design and character. There are three suites with king beds and one suite with two queens.

Each suite has a remote-controlled fire place, sitting area, desk, ceiling fan, closet and they’re each decorated in gorgeous neutral shades, luxe fabrics and a variety of textures.

The suites have a contemporary style melded with cozy warmth and comfort.

Each Master Suite comes with its own private entrance. I often kept the double doors open to the outside when we were in our suite to take in the fresh Dry Creek Valley air and stunning vineyard views.

En Suite Bathrooms

Each Master Suite has a spacious en suite bathroom with a deep soaking tub and spacious walk-in shower. The shower has a small window that looks out into the vineyards. You’re rarely without a vineyard view at the residence, even when you shower!

The residence has all the amenities you would want including fluffy towels, plush robes and even Molton Brown toiletries.

The Residence at Night

You may have already figured out by now that I am a nature lover. Watching the beautiful sunsets and sunrises from this vast and open property was such a delight.

There was a full moon on our first night. Michelle and I watched the moon come up over the hill in the distance while Bill and Bill picked up our pizzas. We didn’t want to go out to dinner and miss something spectacular, like the moon rise!

The residence lit up at night was a breathtaking sight. It glows!

You may reserve the entire residence for yourself and your group or stay in one of the four Master Suites that each have their own safe, private entrance and key. The Residence at Comstock Wines makes an ideal getaway for a family vacation or reunion.

Yes, it would – a family vacation would be great. The suites are on either side of the Great Room. And there is so much to do…you can walk to their winery and play bocce. It’s such a wonderful property!
