Welcome to April’s How I Wear My, the 69th post in this long running fashion series!
What better way to welcome spring than to revel in Greenery, that fresh hue of yellow-green that is Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year? Jill of Everything Just So and I wanted to find ways to work this shade into our wardrobe—and see how you do it too—so we decided to make it the theme of “How I Wear My” for April.
Let’s get right to it and see how April’s participants style Greenery, starting with my How I Wear My partner, Jill!
Jill of Everything Just So
“This is a L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic green sequined sweater that I love. It was a fun challenge to bring the glamour of it back down to earth by pairing it with a field jacket and jeans to take a walk in the park with my son. I never get tired of sequins, whether it’s day or night.”
Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun
“I’m loving the spring trends this year! Gingham, stripes, and Greenery! Bring on the fun!”
Rosemary of Distinctly Southern Style
“St. Patrick’s day was perfect for wearing my matching green jacket and jeans from Chico’s. It’s said that, ‘What’s old is new again’ – so true. This outfit was purchased several years ago and what fun to have the perfect trending color waiting in my closet for St. Patty’s Day! I wore it paired with a white sleeveless linen top, a green Nina Nguyen necklace, and green sandals.”
Michelle of RetroChicMama
“I love every shade of green, even in my home decor. This dress is an amazing colour and has a 1940’s edge to it so it always makes me feel very ladylike when I wear it. That’s not to say I don’t like to rock it up a bit sometimes with black leather boots!”
Greetje of No Fear of Fashion
“The flared jeans are by Paige and ever so comfortable. I combined it with my ‘Kermit’ green jacket by Marlene Birger. I love this jacket. It represents spring for me. Adding black and white was an easy trick. The boots are by Fluevog and I found them in Vancouver. They are way more versatile than I ever imagined when I bought them.”
Dale of Savvy Spice
“I love the positive vibes of Greenery and one of my favorite dresses is this Calvin Klein lime dress I wore last fall in LA. I can’t wait to wear it again this spring.”
Marek of Savvy Senior
“One of my favorite suits is this one by Hugo Boss that I posted as my very first instagram. I never shy away from bold suits and this color is great for spring and summer.”
“Each month this year I’ve been showing a color combination that included green, in honor of Pantone’s color of the year. Usually, green shows up as an accent rather than the featured hue. I shared this outfit on my blog this past February and in that post, I said that the alternate title for this look would have been ‘lots and lots of polka dots.’ The pattern in my top includes dots of green, pink, and white.”
Malia of Style by Malia
“This is a new shade of green for me. I normally wear richer shades but this jacket has made me rethink that a bit. The jacket is Alfani from Macy’s and the top is Dia & Co.”
“I love this month’s theme! Green is my favourite colour and reflects so many of my favourite things – the sea, my garden, trees, my granddaughter’s eyes. So I’m wearing one of my favourite dresses with my favourite laboradite mermaid necklace in a favourite spot in my garden.”
Nicole of High Latitude Style
“When I was a kid, my mom always enforced the fashion rule not to wear green with blue. I think that blue and green look great together as they are analog colors. Since I look best in bluish colors, I wear green always in small doses like green pumps or a green necklace. This summer outfit is a typical example of how I wear my green – with blue.”
Nora of Jacket Society
“I am wearing our White Embroidered Kimono jacket, Jade Top with Scalloped sleeve, Jade Stone Necklace with my BCBG cropped pants, Gucci bag and Calvin Klein sandals.”
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
“Green, floral, and stripes are three of my favorite things. Put them together in long layers and I am a very happy girl! I just found these wide leg cropped pants at Target and have already worn them multiple times. They will be a spring and summer staple for me!”
Judith of Style Crone
“I love to accessorize navy blue with green. My vintage navy princess coat comes to life with a vintage green turban, a vintage green silk scarf, and a contemporary green bag. There’s nothing like mixing the old with the new!”
Ana of Mrs. American Made
“Ah, greenery. You would think I would wear this color group more since my eyes are green and wearing it makes them ‘pop,’ but I don’t know what happens. I do have several pieces of jewelry that I enjoy wearing that have green like this long beaded necklace and drop earrings made by Laura of Mercer & Jayne. Here I am wearing them with two layered American-made tops, a military-esque olive green snap front top by Current/Elliott and a floral shell with pink and green flowers by A.L.C.”
Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo
“I adore the color green. This dress is thrifted and is a 1980s midi with a tropical print.”
Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
“I love green so I have many outfits in this color!”
I don’t own much in the way of green except for a few olive green pieces and a pair of bright Kelly green patent leather ballet flats that see the light of day once a year on St. Patrick’s Day.
That changed recently when I modeled in the Stella Carakasi Spring Style Event last Friday. I picked out my three outfits for the fashion show at Stella Studio in Berkeley several days before the show and was drawn to a color in their newest line called “Kiwi.” Kiwi is a little more chartreuse than Pantone’s Greenery but it definitely has Greenery’s citrus hues.
For How I Wear My this month I am showing you one of the outfits I modeled on the runway – more photos and highlights to come in future post.
The Boundless Sweater has an open knit and is made with cotton and paper. Yes, paper! In the fashion show I wore it with a For Real Cami in black and New Rhythm Cropped Pants also in black. For shoes, I chose strappy suede sandals with an ankle tie.
I brought the sweater home with me after the show then styled it again for a daytime look using lighter neutral shades. I wore In Style Cropped Pants, also from Stella Carakasi, and a nude camisole underneath the sweater.
Thank you to all the stylish participants this month!
We love to see how you style Pantone’s Greenery 🍃
