Happy Saturday and welcome to another Seven for Saturday, a list of seven things on my mind this week.
7 for Saturday
1 – In last week’s inaugural Seven for Saturday post, I told you about SCRAPS, a show on FYI Network, hosted by National Chef for Sur La Table, Joel Gamoran. Tori and I were not only seen in the Sonoma episode that aired last Sunday, but we spoke!
I resurrected my YouTube channel and loaded both clips of us talking in the show. Tori’s clip is here and mine here. You can also watch the full episode which has lots of smart and delicious tips for using your food scraps rather than tossing them.
2 – On Tuesday, we bought our tickets to Dallas for my 50th 😳 birthday celebration. The original idea was to take a road trip – leaving from our home here in Sonoma Valley – and drive to New Mexico and Texas. After mapping it all out, we realized that would mean spending several long days in the car, there and back. We agreed getting to Texas, then renting a car to start our road trip, sounded much less tedious and probably less expensive too.
Our roundtrip tickets from San Francisco to Dallas were just $167! I signed up for a Google alert for the date and time I wanted. When I got an email that the price dipped down, I snagged them.
3 – I haven’t been reading The Couple Next Door too much this week but I did watch a few episodes of a mystery drama on Amazon Prime Video. Loch Ness takes place in, you guessed it, Loch Ness, Scotland. It’s quite good. I love the plot, the character and the gorgeous scenery.
4 – The nice people at ZÜPA NOMA, based here in Sonoma, sent me a 6-pack sampler of their products along with a cute thermal #SOUPSQUAD carrier.
ZÜPA NOMA soups are so delicious and healthy. These soups are made to drink chilled, right out of the bottle. They come in 6 culinary inspired flavors and use organic ingredients that have gone through High Pressure Processing – so no heat is used that would compromise nutrition and taste. I have traded in my usual afternoon caffeine and sugar fix for this much smarter and tastier option.
Look for them locally at Oliver’s Market. Use their store locater to find a store near you or order online and have them delivered, already chilled and ready to sip.
Next Tuesday, I am going to a Sonoma Stompers game where Ayesha Curry, a ZÜPA NOMA brand ambassador, will throw out the first pitch. I am so excited to attend this event!
5 – I got a mani-pedi this week and since I was wearing my freshwater pearl and leather necklace as a bracelet, I decided to match my nails to the pearls. I don’t know what color this nail polish is but it’s similar to this one.
The bracelet/necklace is from local jewelry designer Elizabeth Wilmore. I love her pieces and have acquired four of them!
I met Elizabeth at an event last spring at The Pass Door at The Barlow where she had a display of her jewelry. The moment I laid eyes on this Healdsburg Necklace/Bracelet Wrap, I knew I had to buy one! Check out her entire line here.
6 – Just like millions of other people, I shopped the deals during Amazon Prime Day on the 10th. I bought a new robe – a short one made with soft, lightweight material, perfect for summer – and this lighted makeup mirror that is portable! I am so excited about this thing. Here’s why:
- It comes with a detachable 10x magnifying mirror, perfect for plucking eyebrows.
- It’s lightweight and the stand detaches
- The mirror is surrounded by LED lights that are battery operated. You can adjust the brightness by holding the on button on the mirror.
- The mirror rotates 180 degrees
- It comes in pink (my pick), black and white
So when Bill steams up our bathroom mirror after his shower, I don’t need to wait for it to dry out before doing my makeup. It’s also great for traveling. I often find hotel bathrooms don’t have a magnifying mirror or suitable lighting for doing your makeup.
7 – I had the pleasure of visiting Gary Farrell Winery yesterday and see their new Salon Tasting Room. I’ll be working on a full blog post about this chic Russian River Valley winery, but here are a few photos from the day. I highly recommend visiting Gary Farrell Winery and experiencing one of their three seated wine tasting options. Learn more on their website and stay tuned for my post!
I have to mention that I am in love with my limited edition Mustard yellow Olive and Poppy Barrel Bracelet I received as a gift last weekend during the Wine Country Blogger Gals Brunch. I am thinking about adding the white one to my bracelet collection.
What’s been on your mind this week?
Share in the comments, if you like and have a wonderful Saturday!
Disclosure: The Zupa Noma soups and cooler were sent to me as a gift. My tasting at Gary Farrell Winery was complimentary in exchange for my review. All opinions expressed here are mine, as always.
