Recently I enjoyed a stylish wine tasting experience at Silver Trident Winery in Napa Valley.
Silver Trident is located in Yountville, one of my favorite towns to visit in Wine Country. It’s a tiny town in size – just 1.5 square miles – but brims with some of the world’s best food, wine and resorts, including iconic French Laundry and the upscale and chic hotel Bardessono. It’s no surprise that an elegant residential-style tasting room with fantastic wines, a sophisticated and delicious tasting experience and designer furnishings would be found there.
Appropriately called the Tasting Home, Silver Trident Winery’s tasting room is located in a charming building adjacent to the Villagio Inn & Spa. Its façade is covered in stone with a tile roof and is surrounded by lush greenery – very Tuscan looking.
A red carpet beckons guests to experience a seated tasting in one of several beautiful and elegant rooms inside the Tasting Home.
The Tasting Home was decorated by Los Angeles interior designer Trevor R. Howells, exclusively with Ralph Lauren Home furnishings. Guests may browse and purchase furniture, lighting, artwork, rugs, candles, glassware, frames, and more – all from Ralph Lauren Home – while they taste wonderful wines.
Speaking of wines, we were greeted with a tasting of chilled Silver Trident Apollo’s Folly Rosé the moment we entered the Tasting Home. The rosé is one of six wines currently offered by this small production winery, which makes about 2,200 cases of wine a year.
Silver Trident Winery is owned by Bob Binder and Walter Jost, who named the winery in honor of their longtime association with cruise ships. Bob is the co-founder of Oceania Cruises, a luxury cruise line known its fine dining experiences and Walter is an experienced media and advertising executive.
Mallory, our host and as I later discovered, a fellow Wine Country lifestyle and fashion blogger, took us on a tour of Silver Trident’s Tasting Home before we sat down for to have our wine and food pairing in the Living Room.
The Loft is located upstairs and is the ideal setting for a larger group with its 30-foot long solid mahogany table. The room has an equestrian motif that includes stunning chandeliers made with saddle leather and brass. And also includes 22 new pieces of artwork – black and white photographs, watercolors and paintings.
WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE
After our tour, Mallory invited us to take a seat on the couch in my favorite room, the Living Room. I loved the Jamaica Salon Sofa we sat on, the gorgeous leather screen behind the sofa and the leather-trimmed tray that sat on the cocktail table.
Shortly after we were seated, Mallory brought out some delicious treats to pair with the wines she would be pouring for us. They included Labneh Goat Cheese with Preserved Lemon and Herb, Porcini and Cremini Mushroom Duxelles with Black Truffle Powder, Piquillo Pepper Pimento Cheese and Smoked Paprika, Aged Gouda Savory Shortbread with Thyme and Sea Salt.
The tasting menu was created by Chef Sarah Scott, who also wrote a cookbook, The Wild Table: Seasonal Foraged Food and Recipes. All four were all delectable – my favorite, however, was the pimento cheese nibble. As the daughter of a Southern mother, I grew up on pimento cheese and love it. Chef Sarah Scott’s pimento cheese creation took it to a new level of deliciousness!
The exquisite wines went so well with the tasty bites. We took home several bottles of their 2016 Apollo’s Folly rose and Mallory gave us a bottle of 2014 Benevolent Dictator Pinot Noir, which we are saving for a special occasion.
I am thrilled to be returning soon to Silver Trident for a Wine Country blogger and influencer event this Sunday. We have a brunch planned at Bardessono’s Lucy Restaurant, followed by a wine reception at Silver Trident. I am very much looking forward to meeting more of my fellow bloggers in person and to another visit to the stylish Tasting Home.
Silver Trident Winery is located at 6495 Washington Street in Yountville. Call (707) 945-0311 to make your reservation for a tasting – and to shop! Or visit their website for more information.
Disclosure: My tasting and my husband’s tasting at Silver Trident Winery were both complimentary in exchange for my review. All opinions expressed here are my own, as always.
