How I Wear My: Sundress, Romper or Jumpsuit

How I Wear My: Sundress, Romper or Jumpsuit

Welcome to August’s How I Wear My!

This is the 73rd post in this long running fashion series.

Are you finding it a challenge to stay cool in the height of the heat? It seems like a lot of fashionable ladies we see around town make summertime dressing a cinch by reaching for either a sundress, romper or jumpsuit as their go-to essential and building their outfit from there. Jill of Everything Just So and I decided to devote August’s “How I Wear My” to these three easy pieces!

Let’s start How I Wear My: Sundress, Romper or Jumpsuit off with my stylish How I Wear My partner, Jill.

JILL OF EVERYTHING JUST SO

“This is not technically a sundress but I have worn it a fair amount in the sun this summer! It’s from Old Navy and I love pairing it with a big necklace, this one with Swarovski crystals in a neon pink is by Duchessa Jewels and always looks good with black.”

MICHELLE OF RETROCHICMAMA

“This is very RetroChicMama in style so I feel completely at home in it. If my blog had a signature look this would be it!”

Michelle

CAT OF @PETITEDOCTOR

“I found this white lace sundress when shopping in my own closet. As a mom of two small children, I’m rarely found wearing white, but today I felt adventurous. I’m keeping my look simple with a delicate gold necklace and nude sandals. And I never leave the house without sun protection: a straw boater hat and cat-eye shades.”

CHERYL OF NORTHWEST MOUNTAIN LIVING & STYLE

“I had never seen these before this spring but knew it was the answer to my desire to have a romper. It is a midi romper in a chambray fabric. It’s versatile and perfect for summer. I’m wearing it with a colorful clutch and equally colorful mules. A hat completed this outfit.”

Cheryl

CATHERINE OF NOT DRESSED AS LAMB

“This is a really quality cotton jumpsuit from Winser London – it needed very little styling apart from a Panama hat (which goes with everything in summer), a statement necklace and bright blue heels for a punch of bold colour. I’m obsessed with jumpsuits at the moment, I’d be happy to fill my wardrobe with them!”

DAWN LUCY OF FASHION SHOULD BE FUN

“Not sure if this counts as a sundress/romper/jumpsuit but it’s ….something!  A cocoon?!  I don’t know what it is, but I’m loving it!  Talk about comfy dressing!”

Dawn Lucy

 MALLORY OF VINE LIVING

“Working at a winery I have the pleasure of wearing what I see fit, there is no specific dress code besides the obvious (cover all your parts! :)) and wear comfortable shoes. This summer has been extremely hot and this Romper from American Eagle has been a lifesaver. I don’t have to worry about exposing myself by bending over or crouching down to perform tasks at work. The bow tie details and flutter sleeves are my favorite. I wear it with flats and a light sweater and work and wedges and a classic hat outside of work.  If I were to take this into fall, I could easily throw on a pair of OTK boots and a long blazer for work!”

Mallory

ANA OF MRS. AMERICAN MADE

“I am wearing a #madeinUSA romper and it’s not even mine! It is my daughter’s and she made it herself at camp early this summer. I love the fabric so much and she did such a great job that I had to share it on the blog. I wore it with a wide leather belt and espadrille wedge heels. My son made the belt for me some years back so I call this outfit ‘dressed by my kids’.”

Ana

NANCY OF NANCY’S FASHION STYLE

“This is my only jumpsuit and I want more! Never thought I would love them!”

Nancy

MALIA OF STYLE BY MALIA

“I am a lover of a jumpsuit. Anytime I can find one that works for my tall, curvy frame I have to have it. This strapless floral jumpsuit is from Venus and I love how it looks.”

NICOLE OF HIGH LATITUDE STYLE

“I love blue and white printed dresses for summer. They have such a summer in the Provence vibe  and look so French.”

Nicole

NORA OF JACKET SOCIETY

“I am wearing our brand new dress, Blue Violet Ruffle Cold Shoulder Dress with our Gold Tone Chandelier Earring with Rhinestones, Black Franco Sarto espadrilles and vintage Chanel bag.  Dress and Earrings are available in our shop.”

Nora

NINA of SHARING A JOURNEY

“The romper and tube top were total wild cards. At 58 years of age, they were the last two things I thought I’d wear but they worked and I totally love the romper. It is comfortable and very versatile, and I love versatile! Both pieces are from Marshalls.”

Nina

SHELBEE OF SHELBEE ON THE EDGE

“Who would have thought that this month’s theme would have been so difficult for me!  I don’t wear rompers or jumpsuits.  And apparently, I don’t wear many sundresses either.  Here in the the very northern reaches of New York State, it isn’t very warm for very long, so all of my “sundresses” are either long sleeved or layered with a sweater.  I wore this floral maxi dress on Mother’s Day with an olive cardigan and olive booties for a slightly boho vibe.”

Shelbee

TRINA OF TEA TIME WITH TRINA

“This sundress is very light weight and breathable therefore it’s fun to accessorize with this silk kimono for an added pop. Any dress that can be slipped on and ready to go is a perfect sun dress in my eyes.”

Trina

DALE OF SAVVY SPICE

“I’m expecting again so rompers with a baby bump are out of the question this summer, but I loved this tropical floral print romper I wore last August on vacation in Majorca, Spain. The off-the-shoulder style was so comfy by the brand Back from Bali.”

JENNY of @YourVividStyle

“This photo was taken of me while I was on a writing and yoga retreat in Portland, Oregon last month.  I’m wearing the Casino Jumpsuit by Les Lunes. It’s super comfy and I love the soft bamboo jersey fabric. The one-piece ensemble is easy to wear and makes getting dressed a snap.”

Jenny

NANCY OF JODIE’S TOUCH OF STYLE

“This is Nancy (the 60+ model on my blog) wearing a tunic that we made into a sundress by adding in a dress extender! I’d never heard of these dress extenders until I started reading other women’s blogs, but I can see how functional they can be. This is one of Nancy’s favorite’s tunics, but leggings are often too hot to wear in the summer! So I thought this would be a perfect way to make it work for the summer!”

Charlotte

LAURIE OF VANITY AND ME

“This is a vintage jumpsuit from the late seventies, handed down from my mother! I added a chunky gold necklace and some gold bangles. I love the raglan sleeves and it has padded shoulders. I am just lucky that we must have been the same size around the same age.”

Vanity and Me

GREETJE OF NO FEAR OF FASHION

“This dress by RIXO London is my sundress. In a totally different way than the word ‘sundress’ usually means. But it is a dress which I pull out only when it is really hot and sunny. Because it is light as a breeze. At the same time it covers all the old wrinkly bits. A winner and my best dress.”

Greetje

My Look

At 6′ 2″ with a long torso, rompers and jumpsuits aren’t something you will find in my closet. However, I do love a good sundress and the best part is they always fit me!

I decided last month I was done buying any new summer clothing for the year. I have more than enough to take me into fall and then I saw this cute sundress at Gap and I had to have it. I love the color palette – reds and pinks – and the ruffles at the hem are darling.

Adrienne Shubin

It has side pockets, a tie around the waist and it’s lined. I wore this dress with my favorite nude sandals (similar) and a pastel pink wrap (similar).

Adrienne Shubin

There is enough going on with this dress – the color palette, the pattern and the structure – that I really don’t need to accessorize much. I added a pastel pink leather wrap bracelet and called it good. I guess my pet chicken decided she wanted to participate in How I Wear My this month too. Where’s your romper, Sandy?

Adrienne Shubin

Thank you to all the stylish participants this month!

Jill and I love your looks featuring sundresses, rompers, and jumpsuits.

She is so funny – follows me around the yard and always tries to come in the house. Her new thing is trying to hop onto furniture – which is why she rarely comes in the house anymore. I have created a chicken-dog monster!!

This was such a fun month Adrienne and I LOVE your dress with the ruffles at the bottom. I can picture you all over wine country this summer wearing this. Love the length too and how it’s not all the way to the ground. You look great and so do all the other bloggers. 🙂

      Hi Dale!
Thanks for joining us this month. I love my dress too – and you’re right. The midi length is great – and it’s a hi-low too. Hard to tell because it’s so subtle.
I hope all is well in Dallas and you’re feeling great with baby #2 on the way! xo, A

You look great, Adrienne. I love your dress and I love this post! (Maybe make the chicken a star and she will show up for future HIWM’s.) This theme is making me wish summer would stick around longer so I could wear more styles like these LOL Thank you for a great round-up.

What a lovely summery issue of How I Wear My… I love all the rompers and jumpsuits, even though I cannot wear them myself anymore.

I can’t wear jumpsuits or rompers either – too long waisted. But I do love a good sundress. By the way, I LOVE the dress you wore this month – such pretty patterns and they all work so well together!
See you next time for Straw, I hope!
