Little Black Summer Dress

Little Black Summer Dress

Many of us think of light colors and cheery patterns when we think of summer dresses. And while I have worn many frocks that fall into that category this season, I also like to wear black during the summer.

This little black summer dress from Stella Carakasi is comfortable, easy to style and it’s lightweight without being too thin. The fabric is an 80% hemp, 20% polyester blend and has a 100% cotton lining (no slip needed!).

It’s a midi length with an symmetrical hemline and has shirring in the front. The bodice is a tank style which means you can wear a normal bra (who else is tired of wearing a strapless bra? 🙋).

I love the color combo of pink and black so I accessorized my look with a pink wrap (similar) and a pastel pink leather choker I bought in Sonoma.

For shoes, I wore the pretty embroidered mules I bought earlier this summer.

This little black summer dress is not only great for wearing right now but it will easily transition into fall. I added a cropped sweater to this look for extra coverage and a little warmth on cooler days.

I layered two necklaces from Elizabeth Wilmore Designs – the Healdsburg Necklace, which can also be worn as a wrap bracelet, and the Glen Ellen Tassel.

I am also wearing my favorite sandals that I wear almost daily and carrying my white Italian leather handbag with bamboo handles from Armadio.

The Happy Daze Dress also comes in white and gorgeous black and white stripe.

Guess what?

Love the way you found different looks for the same dress – great idea! I’m also going to be posting about a black dress and different looks later this week 😉

      Hi Yvonne,
Thanks for stopping by! I will be able to style this dress in even more ways come fall. I would love to wear it with some booties and a denim jacket and scarf – or even add a shirt underneath.
Looking forward to your black dress post. Hope all is well in Switzerland! xo

I think so too! Simple and classic but the shirring gives it personality!
