Happy Saturday and welcome to another Seven for Saturday!
It is has been a particularly unnerving week for our country and the world. Lately I have to steel myself before turning on the news or even looking at my Facebook feed. It seems there is no end to the turmoil, tension and anger. Today’s post will hopefully be a pleasant distraction for you – and me. I know I seek out diversions when I feel helpless and beset with worry and blogging is my favorite diversion.
So let’s get to it!
1 – Willi’s Wine Bar
Bill and I were invited to a Wine Wednesday party for influencers at Willi’s Wine Bar in Santa Rosa. Willi’s is a well-known and well-established Sonoma County restaurant that serves delicious and creative small plates made to share with your dining companions.
We sat on the back patio since it was such a lovely evening. And were treated to the I ❤️ Sonoma County Wines flight which included pours of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon – all from Sonoma County.
For food, we enjoyed a parade of dishes from oysters on the half shell and a delicious arugula salad to macaroni and cheese with pancetta and truffle fries – and that was only a portion of our feast. It was a tasty adventure to try all the various dishes.
Willi’s Wine Bar is located at 4404 Old Redwood Hwy in Santa Rosa. Visit their website for more information.
2 – Mid-Size Fashion Blogger Feature
This week on Not Dressed as Lamb, Catherine featured 9 fashion bloggers who are not size zero, not plus size – but somewhere in between. I fit this category Catherine dubbed “Mid-Size” and was thrilled to be included!
On the list are some very stylish women, some I had not had the pleasure of knowing about until now. Check out the post and see who else is on the list of mid-size bloggers. You may very well get some fabulous style inspiration!
3 – Ozark
My latest TV series obsession is “Ozark” on Netflix starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Are you watching this crime drama/thriller too? What are your thoughts? It is definitely keeping me on the edge of my seat.
4 – Concert at Green Music Center
Last summer we attended three concerts at Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. We love the venue and always get lawn seating so we can bring a picnic and enjoy the fresh air.
This summer is the first time we’ve been to a concert there all season! We saw Jake Owens with Bill’s brother Rob and his wife, Debbie and Bill’s eldest daughter, Kayla and her boyfriend, Forrest. It was such a fun evening! We hope to squeeze in another concert before the season ends.
5 – The Best Beef Jerky
If you know me in real life or are friends with me on Facebook or Instagram, you probably already know about the fantastic beef jerky I have been making with my dehydrator.
I use Alton Brown’s easy recipe and this dehydrator, though Alton’s recipe does include instructions for a DIY dehydrator using air filters and bungee cords, I believe. Every time I go to the market or place and Amazon Fresh order, I buy a flank steak or two and freeze them for when I have the time and the urge to make beef jerky. It’s so easy and tastes wonderful. I tried making it with London Broil, which is fine to use too, but I found it hard and dry.
I was thinking about doing an entire post about my dehydrator and how I use it. Would that be of interest to you? Let me know if it is. I make a mean fruit roll too 😉
6 – Stella Carakasi Grand Opening Event
I mentioned in a previous Seven for Saturday that Stella Carakasi moved their boutique to the hip and very busy Fourth Street shopping district of Berkeley. I have not yet visited their new digs but I will on the 26th when they throw their Grand Opening party.
If you would like to attend, RSVP here. Hope to see you there!
7 – Office Re-do!
After many, many years of putting “freshen up the office” on the honey-do list, it’s finally happening! I had my hair colored yesterday – which takes a couple hours – and when I got home, Bill had surprised me by emptying out my office to get it ready for painting. As I write this, he’s adding the primer coat.
We decided to paint it plain white – Swiss Coffee from Kelly-Moore Paints, to be precise. It has been a beige color forever and I can’t wait to see it brightened up. The main motivation for painting is that I have several new pieces of gorgeous artwork that a dear friend and accomplished artist gave me. I am so thrilled! They will look stunning against the white background. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I’ll post photos when it’s complete!
I hope you have a great weekend!
What do you have going on?
