St. Helena Getaway to Wydown Hotel

St. Helena Getaway to Wydown Hotel

Today I’m sharing highlights from our recent St. Helena getaway to Wydown Hotel with The Little Book of Big Experiences. The Little Book is a passport of offers from wineries, hotels, spas, restaurants and more in St. Helena.

St. Helena is a charming and picturesque town located in the heart of Napa Valley. The main thoroughfare, aptly named Main Street, is lined with Sycamore trees and has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, hotels and much more.

Visiting Napa Valley from late fall through late winter, known to some as Cabernet Season, has many perks. Not only will you experience fewer crowds and a more laid back vibe but you’ll also get to see grape leaves turn vibrant colors before falling off the vines in November or gorgeous vineyards full of flowers and green cover crop in February and March. Wine Country is beautiful every day of the year but cool temperatures, fewer visitors and the natural beauty you find in fall and winter make it extra special.

The Little Book of Big Experiences has 24 different experiences inside which are valid from November through the end of March. It offers VIP access to some of Napa Valley’s finest establishments, some including wine and food pairings, upgraded guest rooms, barrel tastings and more –  all for $100 per person.

Using the Little Book is easy. Just present your passport at participating wineries, spas or restaurants upon arrival to receive your offer.

The limited-time offers are valued at over $1000 and are valid until March 31st. Return multiple times during the Little Book period to take advantage of unused offers. I know I will be using mine again!

There are several hotels inside The Little Book of Big Experiences offering special discounts and extras to Little Book holders. I chose The Wydown Hotel on Main Street in St. Helena. I’ve always wanted to stay at Wydown Hotel, having driven or walked past many times. Its sophisticated, chic style is notable and the location to shops and restaurants in St. Helena couldn’t be better.

The Little Book has an offer for 15% off a two-night stay at Wydown Hotel, just mention your Little Book when reserving.

In fact, The Wydown Hotel is a short walk to some of the Napa Valley’s best restaurants and shopping. Some of my favorite restaurants like Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen and Archetype, which is right across the street from Wydown, never disappoint.

Main Street is a hub for stylish fashion boutiques, art galleries, jewelry stores, home décor shops and much more. The middle page of The Little Book of Big Experiences features a list of all the shops on Main Street you will want to visit during your stay.

Just off Main Street you will find expansive vineyards and open fields as well as wineries, of course. Bill and I enjoyed taking morning walks in search of mustard fields, which are plentiful this time of year.

The Wydown Hotel is a boutique property with 12 well-appointed rooms. It’s owned and operated by hotelier Mark Hoffmeister who has utilized his artful, well-traveled eye to create a comfortable, stylish and welcoming haven for guests.

Mark has connected with a variety of artisans who share a love for contemporary design and beauty. These connections are seen and experienced via the stunning photography, furniture design and artwork throughout The Wydown Hotel.

The lobby at Wydown is proof that contemporary and modern can also be relaxed and cozy. Settle in to a pair of comfy leather chairs in the lobby with your companion and sip on cups of tea. Or read a book in the front window while watching people pass by on the sidewalk.

Speaking of tea, Wydown has its own Tea Room. Every morning guests of the hotel are treated to a fresh continental breakfast that includes hot coffee, homemade granola, high-quality yogurts, fresh fruit and pastries from The Model Bakery across the street. You may recognize Model Bakery from Oprah’s favorite things in 2016 and 2017. She loves their English Muffins and often gifts them to her friends.

Throughout the day, coffee and tea are available to guests and in the afternoons, fresh-baked gourmet cookies are served.

Bill and I checked in at the front desk, where Carol, one of Wydown’s friendly and helpful staff members greeted us and gave us keys to our guest room. Everyone we interacted with at Wydown was so personable and put forth a noticeable effort to make our stay pleasant – and they succeeded!

Our guest room was spacious with high ceilings, big windows across from our bed, which faced the park next door. It also had a large walk-in shower and plenty of counter space on the sink.

My husband and I both commented that our King bed at The Wydown Hotel was one of most comfortable we’ve ever experienced, with such soft sheets and perfectly fluffy pillows too.

Other notable room amenities include a Nespresso coffee maker, plush robes, Geneva Sound System and Molton Brown bath products. The in-room refrigerator was stocked with Izze sodas and bottles of Perrier, complimentary.

Also complimentary is private parking at Wydown. We were so happy to have covered parking and the lot is right behind the hotel making coming and going a breeze.

I recommend The Wydown Hotel for its fantastic location on Main Street in St. Helena, its contemporary and chic style and relaxed vibe, and the warm, friendly staff.

In my next post, I’ll share highlights from the fun and delicious things we did using our Little Book of Big Experiences.

St Helena looks and sounds lovely, … as does the Wydown Hotel. Glad you had such a good time… and an opportunity to use your new bag!
The Little Book of Experiences, seems a good idea. I’ve visited cities who have a similar book or card that you can buy … I imagine if you can save the cost of the book at your hotel and some wineries, then anything else is a bonus!

Hope you’re having a good week!

The Little Book is such a great deal. They paid for themselves in just two wine tasting experiences. Plus, it’s not just a book of offers but a local guide with suggestions for where to wine taste, eat, shop and stay. It came in quite handy!
I hope you are loving every second spent in Switzerland. I need to get over to IG and see what you’re up to today! xo

I love that place too…the decor, the food – everything!
