Two Generations of Healthy Lifestyles: Clean Skin Care

In my previous post I shared highlights from the Whole Foods Market Beauty Week and Brunch Celebration.

I was delighted when my stepdaughter Tori, who was in town for a visit, was also invited to attend the brunch. We both love learning about and using healthy products, which is why we began our series, Two Generations of Healthy Lifestyles.

In our latest posts in the series, we are talking skin care. Tori focused her post on her nighttime skin care routine, which you can read here.

I chose to tell you about the evanhealy products that were in the gift bags each brunch attendee got to go home with. Among other products, we were given an evanhealy Face Care Kit.

Ever since converting my cosmetics to clean products, I have been looking for a line of pure, environmentally friendly, cruelty-free, organic and natural skin care line that would make my skin look and feel its best. A tall order, right? Right! I have tried natural product lines before with not great results –  including my least favorite result: lots of breakouts.

So I was reluctant to give up the skin care line containing non-organic ingredients that I have been using for years for fear that I would start having breakouts and other skin issues again.

But after listening to Shayna, who represents evanhealy, talk to our group about their products during brunch, I decided to put the Face Care Kit to good use.

These are just a handful of facts that convinced me to try evanhealy. The more I learn about this brand, the longer my list gets!

~ Certified organic

~ Made in California

~ They work with farms that use sustainable harvesting practices.

~ Their Oil Serums and HydroSouls are certified by Oregon Tilth, a leading certifier for organic farming.

~ Products are handcrafted from start to finish – from the field and the forest to the labeling and packaging.

~ A commitment to authenticity runs throughout the business. You can see it in their messaging, their products and their partnerships with farms and communities in the US and around the world. You can read more about that here.

After our brunch we had a chance to try evanhealy products in the beauty department at Whole Foods Market. Initially I had a Blue Kit in my gift bag and Tori had the Rose Balancing. Shayna told us to base our decision about which one was best for us by scent preference. She said our preference for one over the other meant that particular product was what our skin needed. What an interesting way to choose – by sensing rather than by analyzing.

Shayna sprayed a little of both the Rose Geranium Facial Tonic HydroSoul and the Lavender Facial Tonic HydroSoul on our faces and hands.

Tori preferred the lavender and I the rose. It turns out the rose products are wonderful for mature skin like mine and the lavender soothes sensitive skin.

So we decided to trade our kits (except we forgot to trade our cleansers before Tori went back to Oregon).

Here’s what came with my evanhealy Rose Balancing Kit:

Rosehip Treatment Serum

Rose Geranium Facial Tonic HydroSoul

Rose Vetiver Day Moisturizer

Rose Cleansing Milk (but I have Blue Lavender)

Whipped Shea Butter for Lips

After cleansing with the milk, put several drops of the serum into the palm of your hand then spray 5 to 7 pumps of the HyrdoSoul to that. Gently press the combination to your face using your hands and finish with another spray of HydroSoul, directly to your face. It feels so refreshing and smells wonderful too.

It’s been nearly two weeks of using evanhealy skin care exclusively and my skin loves it! No dryness whatsoever and no greasiness. I have had zero breakouts and I notice my skin tone is more even – both in appearance and texture. I sometimes suffer from mild rosacea, which has not occurred since I started using these products.

I love the scents and the packaging and look forward to my morning and evening skin care routines everyday, which at the moment are the same.

I find the prices reasonable considering you’re getting such pure ingredients and a little goes a long way. After nearly two weeks of using these sample-sized products at least twice a day, I still have quite a bit left. I am going to switch to full-sized products and save these small sizes for travel.

If you want to purchase evanhealy products at Whole Foods Market, now is the time! Their annual Beauty Week Sale is going on right now and will end March 27th.

Take 25% off all skin care, makeup and hair care products at participating Whole Foods locations including evanhealy products.

If you current use evanhealy, I’d love to hear what your favorite products are.

I don’t like anything scented, but I should go there and see what they have without a scent. I have heard good things about Evan Healy. Your skin does look very glowy.

I should have said more about the scents because I can’t stand heavily scented anything on my face! They do have unscented products and the scents they do have are very light and natural only – like very diluted essential oils.

Do you mind me asking whether you have eyelash extensions? I know you posted a while back about trying them temporarily. Your eyelashes are so long and pretty! Are you using a serum?

      Hi Kim,

I do wear extensions. I got them last December and love how they make life easier when it comes to makeup. Also, I think they complement my face and maybe trim a couple years off? 😉
I have a serum – Grand Lash – but I don’t use it anymore as it makes my lash line itch too much. Not a good idea to itch that area with extensions on!
If you’re in Sonoma County and thinking about getting extensions, I highly recommend Lashey Lady in Sebastopol. That’s where I go.
Thank you for stopping by, Kim!
