Holiday Gift Ideas from Wine Country 🎁

With the recent fire disasters in wine country, I want to shine the spotlight on several small businesses based here in wine country. Businesses here need our support this season, now more than ever before!

Elizabeth Wilmore Designs

Elizabeth and I met last summer while shopping at The Passdoor in The Barlow one of several places she sells her beautiful jewelry. I bought a necklace from her that day and we exchanged businesses cards. A friendship began and we have stayed in touch ever since, meeting up for lunch and shopping regularly.

Elizabeth’s core line of jewelry is handmade with freshwater pearls and leather. I really love the Healdsburg necklace/bracelet wrap. I wear mine often and buy them as gifts for friends.

Recently, Elizabeth designed druzy chokers with matching layering chains. It comes in black druzy, and white. Any of her pieces would make terrific gifts for your loved one or for you!

Wine Country Chocolates

You really can’t go wrong with a gift from Wine Country Chocolates. The owners, a mother and daughter team, have been making sweet chocolatey treats since 1999!

They are famous for their hand-pressed chocolate truffles and also carry a wide assortment of chocolate covered fruit and nuts, barks, and more.

Buy online or visit their tasting rooms in Glen Ellen and Sonoma.

Plastic Surgery Associates/Allegro MedSpa

I have been going to Plastic Surgery Associates and their adjoining Allegro MedSpa, since 2004. Most recently I tried Botox for the very first time. Now I make Botox part of my regular “upkeep” because I love it so much.

The lovely people at PSA and Allegro are offering my readers a special deal for the holidays. Get a complimentary SkinMedica Uplifting Eye Serum with any Allegro MedSpa treatment (including Botox) with the mention of The Rich Life in Wine Country. This offer is good until the end of the year!

Bella Vita Sonoma

Bella Vita Sonoma is located on the plaza in the charming town of Sonoma. I have known the owner, Janis, for many years and love shopping at her beautiful and unique shop.

Janis carries an eclectic mix of boho chic, mid-century style and gorgeous Victorian lace clothing. She also has jewelry, handbags and tote bags, shoes, candles, perfume, undergarments, sunglasses, hats and more. I can’t recall ever stepping foot in her shop and leaving empty-handed.

Most recently I bought a Johnny Was tunic that wore Thanksgiving Day with one of Elizabeth’s necklaces.

Janis is offering readers of my blog 20% off online purchases from now until 12/24/17.  Use the code TRL17XMAS at checkout.

Michelle Hoting Jewelry Artist

Michelle is a local artist and friend who makes stunning jewelry using nature as her starting point and inspiration. I wrote an article about Michelle and her art for Sonoma Magazine that you can read here.

Michelle currently has two of the maple seed necklaces seen in the first photo available now. And her flaming grape leaves, a design created after the recent fires, are made to order.

Visit Michelle’s website for more information or contact her at (707) 791-4680 or

Olive and Poppy

The best of Wine Country Chic can be found at Olive and Poppy. They carry a variety of accessories and gifts, all with a wine country flare. From darling zip top pouches to beautiful bangles made from reclaimed oak wine barrel wood and lucite, their designs are quintessential wine country! In fact, many of their pieces use materials locally sourced right here in the North Bay.

Figone’s Olive Oil Company

I am very picky about what kind of olive oil I will buy, eat and cook with. I always keep a bottle of high quality local olive oil on hand to dress salads, drizzle over vegetables and dip crusty bread into. You just can’t beat the flavor and smell of a good olive oil, not to mention the many health benefits.

The owners of Figone’s Olive Oil Company are growers and producers of all of their olive oils (they have lots of different oils to choose from) and balsamic vinegars. Their olive oils are milled, blended, and bottled on-site at Figone’s Olive Oil Mill in Sonoma, California.

Along with olive oils and vinegars, this family owned business also carries a line of body care products made with their oil.

Shop online or visit their darling shop located right across from the Sonoma Plaza.

Kollar Chocolates

European-style chocolates with new world flavors and whimsical, artistic designs are waiting for you at Kollar Chocolates in Napa Valley’s Yountville, inside V Marketplace.

Visitors can watch Artisan Chocolatier Chris Kollar produce his small batch, handmade chocolate through a glass show kitchen. On the other side of the glass, the Kollar Chocolates team offers pre-packaged and to-order chocolates, gelato, and espresso.

I love the beautiful designs and think the sushi chocolates would make such a fun and delectable gift for the chocolate lover who has everything.

Visit their shop in person, if you can, or order their handcrafted treats online. Also, see their mention in a recent holiday article for USA Today!

Bird And The Bottle

Whether you live locally, planning a visit wine country or know someone who is, consider a gift certificate to Bird And The Bottle or one of Mark and Terri Stark’s other restaurants in Sonoma County. One of those restaurants is a longtime favorite restaurant of mine –  Willi’s Wine Bar – which was destroyed in the Tubbs Fire this October. The Starks are planning on rebuilding but of course it will take some time.

I wrote about Bird And The Bottle earlier this fall. They have such a lovely atmosphere and the menu is both eclectic and delicious – every drink and every dish, a conversation starter.

Currently, Mark and Terri Stark are nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Restaurateurs! You can cast your vote today here!
