The lovely people at Karen Klein recently sent me a beautiful, modern and versatile little black dress that is perfect for both my taste in fashion and my lifestyle.

Karen Klein’s fashions are wearable and comfortable without ever sacrificing style and beauty. And they’re made in the U.S.A.!

The Gathered Dress has 3/4 sleeves, a gathered waist on the left side, and an asymmetric hemline. I love the scoop neck which is not too deep and shows just enough of my décolletage.

The soft material, made with rayon and nylon and a touch of spandex, means I stay comfortable all day and it’s hand-washable. This dress can be worn casually or dressed up for a night on the town, as you’re about to see – I have styled the Karen Klein Gathered Dress six ways!

The first time I wore the dress was on a recent blogger trip to Santa Barbara Wine Country, which I’ll be telling you about in a future post.

I styled it with a leather choker, black tights and low-heeled black suede booties for our first dinner of the weekend.

For a more dressed up look, I styled the little black dress with black block-heel pumps with ankle straps and a Louis Vuitton clutch.

For a little sparkle, I wore my Wine Country necklace, modified by Kelley Hollis last year.

My casual look starts with the same outfit I wore in Santa Barbara Wine Country. I added a faded denim jacket, cuff bracelet and carried my black Adora bag.

I decided I wanted an outfit with a pop of color so I tied a new-to-me Hermès scarf, a gift from my thoughtful and kind Parisian friend, around my neck. I just adore the vibrant colors! I can’t wait to wear it more often once spring arrives. I also carried my Louis Vuitton Monogram Beverly GM, a 45th birthday gift from husband, purchased in Paris several years ago.

For a more dressed up daytime look, I topped my dress with a duster in a pretty green shade (same duster in khaki) and some tall black boots. A couple of long necklaces – layered – add interest and texture.

We are making up for our four-year drought here in Northern California, thankfully! I love rain and am thrilled to be making use of my umbrella collection.

For my rainy day look, I added Hunter boots and a Calvin Klein water-repellant trench coat to my little black dress and carried my Guy de Jean umbrella.

My versatile little black dress by Karen Klein is a garment I will reach for again and again for it’s fantastic quality and fit, comfort and modern cut. It also comes in a beautiful charcoal gray color.

Shop the Karen Klein collection on their website. They also have beautiful and wearable tunics, vests, pants, skirts and jackets.

Today is the last day for How I Wear My: Blue submissions.

Fall officially arrives this Thursday, September 22nd, at 7:21 a.m. PST. Can you believe summer is almost over?

As I started to put away some of my summer clothes and bring out my fall pieces from last year, I thought about what my favorite outfits of Summer 2016 have been. I compiled a list of my most memorable summer outfits and pieces that I am sure to wear again next summer.

Lesley Evers Maxi Dress

This dress just says summertime to me. I have had it for two summers now and love it as much as I did the day I bought it at Lesley Ever’s boutique in Corte Madera. I wore it to Festival Napa Valley’s brunch at Auberge du Soleil in July.

Printed Pastel Maxi Dress

I bought this Melissa McCarthy maxi dress a couple of months ago and it quickly became one of my favorites. I wore it during the girlfriends’ getaway weekend in Healdsburg in July. The weather is still so summer like, I am sure I will wear it one or two more times before storing it away until next year.

Printed Casual Dress

In early August I added this colorful dress from Old Navy to my wardrobe. With its bold print, it requires very little styling. I just add my favorite summery sandals, a leather cuff and a straw hat and I am good to go!

Black Shirt Dress

This black shirt dress is still on high rotation in my closet. I styled it six ways in this post and I am sure I will come up with even more outfits featuring this Old Navy dress as we head into the cooler temperatures of fall.

Casual Off-the-shoulder Top

As I am sure you noticed, shoulder-baring tops were a huge fashion hit this summer. I added half a dozen or so to my summer wardrobe. This striped cotton off-the-shoulder top from Gap was one of my favorites. I bought it in navy blue too. I loved when it was cool enough to wear this top with mid-rise flared jeans. I elongated my look by adding a long tassel necklace by KayandStar.

Lace Off-the-shoulder Top

Another off-the-shoulder top I bought in multiples is this lacey number. Along with this pink shade, I have it in white and black. I love the way this top instantly dresses up jeans and slacks.

White Linen Pants

These white linen blend pants were my go-to pants all summer long. I am going to miss wearing them this fall! I wore these wide-legged pants here with a white Stella Carakasi buttoned blouse…

How I Wear My Pearls

I also wore my white pants with a purple top. I rarely wear bright purple but I love this top’s ruffles and its off-the-shoulder style. And I thought it looked great with my white pants and straw hat.

I have to mention that this bone-colored Kate Spade bag, which got a lot of play this summer, was definitely an outfit saver. When I didn’t know what bag would look best with my look, I defaulted to this one every time.
