The lovely people at Karen Klein recently sent me a beautiful, modern and versatile little black dress that is perfect for both my taste in fashion and my lifestyle.

Karen Klein’s fashions are wearable and comfortable without ever sacrificing style and beauty. And they’re made in the U.S.A.!

The Gathered Dress has 3/4 sleeves, a gathered waist on the left side, and an asymmetric hemline. I love the scoop neck which is not too deep and shows just enough of my décolletage.

The soft material, made with rayon and nylon and a touch of spandex, means I stay comfortable all day and it’s hand-washable. This dress can be worn casually or dressed up for a night on the town, as you’re about to see – I have styled the Karen Klein Gathered Dress six ways!

The first time I wore the dress was on a recent blogger trip to Santa Barbara Wine Country, which I’ll be telling you about in a future post.

I styled it with a leather choker, black tights and low-heeled black suede booties for our first dinner of the weekend.

For a more dressed up look, I styled the little black dress with black block-heel pumps with ankle straps and a Louis Vuitton clutch.

For a little sparkle, I wore my Wine Country necklace, modified by Kelley Hollis last year.

My casual look starts with the same outfit I wore in Santa Barbara Wine Country. I added a faded denim jacket, cuff bracelet and carried my black Adora bag.

I decided I wanted an outfit with a pop of color so I tied a new-to-me Hermès scarf, a gift from my thoughtful and kind Parisian friend, around my neck. I just adore the vibrant colors! I can’t wait to wear it more often once spring arrives. I also carried my Louis Vuitton Monogram Beverly GM, a 45th birthday gift from husband, purchased in Paris several years ago.

For a more dressed up daytime look, I topped my dress with a duster in a pretty green shade (same duster in khaki) and some tall black boots. A couple of long necklaces – layered – add interest and texture.

We are making up for our four-year drought here in Northern California, thankfully! I love rain and am thrilled to be making use of my umbrella collection.

For my rainy day look, I added Hunter boots and a Calvin Klein water-repellant trench coat to my little black dress and carried my Guy de Jean umbrella.

My versatile little black dress by Karen Klein is a garment I will reach for again and again for it’s fantastic quality and fit, comfort and modern cut. It also comes in a beautiful charcoal gray color.

Shop the Karen Klein collection on their website. They also have beautiful and wearable tunics, vests, pants, skirts and jackets.

Today I am excited to share some highlights from the Stella Carakasi Fall Style Event at Stella Studio that I modeled in recently. The fashion show was chock full of wearable, versatile and gorgeous wardrobe pieces for fall and winter.

Grab a cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of wine and enjoy these highlights fresh from the Stella runway. I have included every look from the show so you will almost feel like you were there with me!

I arrived in the early afternoon for my fitting, makeup and runway practice. A big crowd was expected!

While the other models and I got ready and practiced in the warehouse where the fashion show took place, guests began arriving at the adjacent Stella Studio.

Guests shopped, sipped wine and nibbled on tasty appetizers from Whole Foods Market Berkeley.

Whole Foods generously catered the event, as they have for past events. Their finger foods are always a bit hit! And they provided the flower arrangements too. Whole Foods also gave the first 50 guests swag bags filled with beauty products and other goodies!

Back stage, makeup artist Danielle Robinson was on hand to make us runway ready!

Some false eyelashes, eye shadow and pretty lipstick and I was ready to go. I brought my favorite black hat along to wear with a coat I was wearing in the show.

At a little before 6:00 pm, guests were asked to head into the warehouse and find a seat in one of the many chairs flanking the runway. It was soon packed with people!

Stella Carakasi, looking as elegant and stylish as ever, came out from behind the curtain and addressed the crowd.

It was a particularly exciting show because Stella had just been awarded the Best in Ready to Wear by Fashion Community Week a few days prior. So well-deserved!

After Stella spoke, it was time to kick of the show!

Stella Carakasi Fall Style Event

As I mentioned earlier, I included every outfit that was featured during the Fall Style Event. The photos were taken by both my husband, Bill, and professional photographer David Delahoussaye.

Most of these pieces are available on the Stella Carakasi website now but some won’t be introduced at Stella Studio and online until the end of October. I have linked to items that are currently available.

So…let’s get the online show started!

These Slimming Ankle Pants, which have vegan leather front panels and zippers at the ankles come in both black and Moonglow, look fantastic with a black and gray patterned V-neck flared sweater, arriving later this month.

For my first look, I wore an Alpaca coat – called Rumor Has It Coat – that has two layers and zips up the neck and will be available in a few weeks. Under it, I had on a Top Rated Tee in Atlantis, a lovely dark blue green shade, and wore Love the Look Leggings, which I also have from last season. They have been my go-to black pants throughout the year and I am so glad Stella brought them back again this season. They also come in a gorgeous gray shade.

The Slimming Ankle Pants were a top choice for the models (models get to pick out their outfits for the show) and new to the Stella Carakasi collection this season. Here they are worn with a lightweight sweater and the Take Note Vest, available later this month.
