Can you believe there are only a few more weeks until spring is officially here? I am excited about transitioning into spring styles! There are so many gorgeous clothes, shoes and accessories to pick from this season.

Here in Wine Country, we’re already experiencing the winter to spring transition. One day the forecast calls for a heavy wool coat, big scarf, tall boots and an umbrella and the next I’m contemplating short sleeves and sandals.

I’ve been itching to wear my new In Style Cropped Pants in the Dune color from Stella Carakasi. The weather finally let me scratch that itch, briefly, and I was able to style these beauties in two ways.

For my first look, I styled my new pants with a Stella Carakasi boatneck top, a cascading vest (Stella Carakasi from their 2015 Collection) and tall black boots.

Along the lines of culottes, these 100% Tencel pants have very wide legs with buttons down the sides. Here, I unbuttoned the last button to show my tall boots a little.

Along with side buttons and a partial elastic waistband, these pants also have pockets, which I love!

For accessories, I layered two necklaces – one from KayandStar and another I bought in Carmel last fall. It was gray and drizzly outside so I wore my black hat from Montecristi Panama Hats in Napa Valley to conceal my frizzy hair.

For my next look, I wore my Karen Klein Cinched Top with a Janet Harrer geode pendant necklace (similar) and Kate Spade bag (no longer available).

I love the way the top has a drape across the front, attaching to one sleeve and gathered at the shoulder.

I took a chance with the weather and wore sandals. These block heeled sandals go with everything and I am sure I will wear them often this spring and summer.

I realized while putting this post together, that not only am I wearing pieces from three Bay Area designers – Stella Carakasi, Karen Klein and Janet Harrer – but the majority of pieces I’m wearing are from female-owned businesses: the aforementioned three, plus Montecristi Panama Hats and KayandStar. I do love supporting women in business!

More than a fashion show, the Stella Carakasi Spring Style Event includes fabulous spring fashions from Stella’s 2017 Resort and Spring Collections, yummy noshes and beauty gift bags from Whole Foods Gilman in Berkeley, and a special guest: Novelist Alysia Helming, author of Protogenesis.

Learn more about this exciting event and secure your free ticket here. My stepdaughter, Tori, and I will be strutting our stuff on the runway. We hope to see you there!

March’s “How I Wear My” is happening this week! March is the month of luck so with St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, we’re asking “How I Wear My” participants to style an outfit featuring their “Lucky Charm”.

It can be a piece of jewelry, clothing, or an accessory. Not superstitious? Send us an outfit that includes an item of clothing that brings you joy, recalls a fond memory, or just gives you a fabulous feeling every time you wear it.

Be sure to tell us a bit about why your item is a charmer. Photos due by the end of the day on March 6, 2017. Send them to us at [email protected]

Disclosure: I was given the Cinched Top by Karen Klein and the In Style Cropped Pants from Stella Carakasi. All opinions here are, as always, my own.

I’m still riding high from the fun, excitement and fabulousness of the Stella Carakasi Fall Style Event last Friday night. What an amazing fashion show and party! It was the perfect way to celebrate fall style and kick off San Francisco Fashion Week.

Last May I partnered with Stella Carakasi for the Spring Luxe Event at the Stella Studio. It was the first time Stella Carakasi had a fashion show at their studio. It was such a great event, we decided to do it again for fall!

This time, the show took place in the Stella Carakasi warehouse for a very hip industrial feel and a much bigger space. They created a runway, added more lighting and made a deconstructed warehouse setting, perfect for a chic fashion show!

While people gathered in the Stella Studio for finger foods and shopping, we models practiced walking the runway for about an hour then stayed behind the curtains to organize our outfits and fix our hair and makeup. Then we waited with anticipation for the big show to begin!

I want to introduce the models in the line-up. From left to right: professional model Lauren Lee Robinson, Wendy Packer of Fashion Over Fifty, model Shadi, Janaia Roeder of Daisy Tribe, Savona Charisse of Style Equation Magazine, Tori, me, Kendra Cardoza of Paleo Paparazzi and Daisy Tribe, customers Judy and Linda, and Janet Harrer, a jewelry designer whose gorgeous pieces were featured in the show.

Gorgeous, talented, brilliant and approachable Stella Carakasi herself got things started by addressing the crowd. She spoke about her desire to support women, women in business – Stella Carakasi is a 95% female company – and about her passion for creating clothing for real women. It was so inspirational and I could tell she really had the crowd’s attention.

Once Stella finished with her welcome message, she introduced me as a partner of the event. To share the spotlight with someone as talented and successful as Stella was a privilege and honor I don’t take for granted.

As usual I was nervous, especially after seeing such a big turnout. Public speaking is terrifying for me but I got through it. I made sure to tell the audience to brace themselves for some spectacular looks on the runway!

For my “speech look” I wore a Perfect 10 Tunic and Love the Look Leggings, both in black with a beaded tassel necklace by Janet Harrer. All jewelry featured in the show was made by Janet.

After my brief speech, we got things moving on the runway with DJ Rimarkable’s cool beats. While talking in front of large groups makes me anxious, walking the runway is a blast. I love it! Especially when I am wearing such gorgeous and stylish clothing.

Stella Carakasi creates eight collections each year. The latest fall collection, Fall 2, debuted on the runway Friday night and is now available online at!

I have put together a number of looks from the fashion show along with links to clothing available now.

Wendy wore a Sheer Thing Top in Echo with Echo Flood Pants.

Judy, a loyal Stella Carakasi customer, wore Love The Look Leggings with Eloquent Jacket in the gorgeous teal color, Dragonfly.

Linda, also a loyal Stella Carakasi customer, wore the Everything Tunic with Slimming Ankle Pants and Take Note Vest in Mosaic. This Take Note vest is so cool – it’s ombre!

Shadi wore Off Duty Sweater in Black and Dawn with Ready To Wear Leggings in black.

Yarra, Head Stylist at Stella Carakasi, decided to walk the runway this time. Last May she emceed the fashion show. She wore Pragmatic Vest in Papyrus with the Ascent Skirt Color Block Knits.

Savona wore a Take It Easy Sweater in Malbec with Love The Look Leggings and the Definitive Coat in black.

Judy wore a black Take Note Vest with Everything Tunic and Love The Look Leggings.

Pencil skirts made a big showing on the runway. The Finesse Skirt was worn by Janaia who paired it with Defining Moments Tunic. Lauren wore the Notorious Sweater in Dawn and Yarra the color blocked Spotlight Sweater with their skirts. And Kendra, far right, wore a Finesse Skirt in Imperial with the Epitome of Style Sweater.

Janaia wore the Printed Attitude Tunic with Define Yourself Ankle Pants in Jaspar and a Fall For It Coat.

Wendy modeled Ready to Wear Leggings with A Fresh Coat, both in Teak.

Kendra showed off Love The Look Leggings with the stunning Intuition Coat in Malbec (which I brought home with me!).

Shadi wore Inevitable Dress in black, a gorgeous and feminine frock, part of the Fall 2 Collection.

I wore the Masterpiece Tunic in black and gray with Love The Look Leggings and I carried my Adora by Adrienne bag.

From Fall 2 Collection is the Everywhere Top with Heritage Pants, both in an art silk and modeled by Lauren.

Tori styled her Stella tops with denim. Her casual look featured the On Point Cardigan in black and in her dressier look she wore the Resolute Tunic in Imperial.

Linda wore the Asymmetrical Poncho in Fern with No Apologies Pants in Titanium.

For my evening look, I also wore the Asymmetrical Poncho in Papyrus. I absolutely LOVE this piece. It’s so dramatic and the fabric is soft and drapes perfectly.

This photo was sent to me by Susie, a guest in the audience. I was so excited in that moment to show off this look to the crowd!

Once all the models showed off both their daytime and evening looks, it was time for the finale. We took one last walk down the runway with Stella in the lead – look at all the smiles!

The party moved from the warehouse to the Stella Studio for noshing, sipping and shopping. It was fun to see everyone admiring the clothes, trying things on, chatting with friends new and old. What a wonderful evening!

A big thank you to Whole Foods Market Gilman for generously providing delicious food for the event. Thank you also to DJ Rimarkable for music, Sici Trevino for filming, and Kati Diaz of Daisy Tribe and my husband, Bill, for photography. And to Joey for helping out wherever needed.

And a very special thank you to Stella, Vivian, Yarra, Steven, Jeff and Allen for including me in this phenomenal event celebrating women and style. I am so proud to call you all friends!
