Can you believe there are only a few more weeks until spring is officially here? I am excited about transitioning into spring styles! There are so many gorgeous clothes, shoes and accessories to pick from this season.

Here in Wine Country, we’re already experiencing the winter to spring transition. One day the forecast calls for a heavy wool coat, big scarf, tall boots and an umbrella and the next I’m contemplating short sleeves and sandals.

I’ve been itching to wear my new In Style Cropped Pants in the Dune color from Stella Carakasi. The weather finally let me scratch that itch, briefly, and I was able to style these beauties in two ways.

For my first look, I styled my new pants with a Stella Carakasi boatneck top, a cascading vest (Stella Carakasi from their 2015 Collection) and tall black boots.

Along the lines of culottes, these 100% Tencel pants have very wide legs with buttons down the sides. Here, I unbuttoned the last button to show my tall boots a little.

Along with side buttons and a partial elastic waistband, these pants also have pockets, which I love!

For accessories, I layered two necklaces – one from KayandStar and another I bought in Carmel last fall. It was gray and drizzly outside so I wore my black hat from Montecristi Panama Hats in Napa Valley to conceal my frizzy hair.

For my next look, I wore my Karen Klein Cinched Top with a Janet Harrer geode pendant necklace (similar) and Kate Spade bag (no longer available).

I love the way the top has a drape across the front, attaching to one sleeve and gathered at the shoulder.

I took a chance with the weather and wore sandals. These block heeled sandals go with everything and I am sure I will wear them often this spring and summer.

I realized while putting this post together, that not only am I wearing pieces from three Bay Area designers – Stella Carakasi, Karen Klein and Janet Harrer – but the majority of pieces I’m wearing are from female-owned businesses: the aforementioned three, plus Montecristi Panama Hats and KayandStar. I do love supporting women in business!

More than a fashion show, the Stella Carakasi Spring Style Event includes fabulous spring fashions from Stella’s 2017 Resort and Spring Collections, yummy noshes and beauty gift bags from Whole Foods Gilman in Berkeley, and a special guest: Novelist Alysia Helming, author of Protogenesis.

March’s “How I Wear My” is happening this week! March is the month of luck so with St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, we’re asking “How I Wear My” participants to style an outfit featuring their “Lucky Charm”.

It can be a piece of jewelry, clothing, or an accessory. Not superstitious? Send us an outfit that includes an item of clothing that brings you joy, recalls a fond memory, or just gives you a fabulous feeling every time you wear it.

Be sure to tell us a bit about why your item is a charmer. Photos due by the end of the day on March 6, 2017. Send them to us at [email protected]

Disclosure: I was given the Cinched Top by Karen Klein and the In Style Cropped Pants from Stella Carakasi. All opinions here are, as always, my own.

10 Fall Wardrobe Pieces Priced Under $100

Fall, my very favorite season, is here. Hooray! For many of us, the arrival of autumn means it’s time to add some new pieces to our fall wardrobes, which is exactly what I have been doing the last couple of weeks. Here are 10 fall wardrobe pieces priced under $100 that I added to my closet recently:

Lace-Up Top, $48

I love the lace-up trend happening with both shoes and clothes. This super-soft top with get-noticed lace-up detail is edgy and a little sexy too. I like how I can throw it on with jeans and a pair of black booties and I am ready to go!

V-Neck Cozy Sweater, $50

After this month’s How I Wear My: Yellow post, this vibrant shade has been on my radar. Although this sweater comes in other less dramatic colors (the coral is gorgeous, by the way) I decided to go for the brightest and boldest and chose Aurora Yellow.

Oversized with extra long sleeves and a deep v-neck, this sweater is ideal for layering. Although it does have wool its blend (18%) it’s not scratchy at all and in fact it’s incredible soft and cozy.

Long V-Neck Tunic, $89

I love a long tunic, especially one that can be worn with layers. I plan on adding a long-sleeved shirt under this tunic on cooler days. It will look great with leggings, tall boots and a black wool hat.

Lace Pintuck Blouse, $60

I bought this top in both white and black and am now considering adding the olive color to my closet. I wore the white to a concert Saturday night with jeans, nude sandals and a long necklace with an agate pendant. This top soft and comfortable and I love the lace detail.

Burgundy Long Cardigan, $27

I can’t get enough of long open-front cardigans! Here in Wine Country, the temperatures can change dramatically making layering essential. I will wear this burgundy long cardigan with a T-shirt or tank top when the weather is still warm and wear it with a turtleneck or long-sleeved sweater and a scarf when cool weather arrives

Black Sweater Duster, $98

A few years ago I bought a long black sweater duster by Free People.  I wore it so much that it started to fall apart. I refused to give it up until I found its replacement which I did last week. This duster is ribbed and has darling gold buttons on the sleeves.

Mid-Rise Straight Trousers, $34

I had an interview recently to go some freelance writing for a magazine. I wanted to wear slacks to the interview but realized, while I have loads of jeans, I own not one pair of classic trousers! These slacks are great to have on hand when the dress code calls for a professional outfit.

Navy ankle pants,  $34

When I don’t feel like wearing jeans or leggings, I like a good ankle pant. I love navy blue and like to wear it with winter white, cognac and even black in the fall and winter. They look great with flat shoes too!

Plaid Shirt Dress, $35

I am a big fan of the shirt dress trend. Throwing one of these cute frocks on with a pair of tall boots or booties is such an easy way to look put together without a fuss. I will add tights, a pashmina and a hat on chilly days.

Denim Western Shirt Dress, $70

This denim shirt dress is my favorite piece of the group. Soft and flattering, this dress is going to get lots of play this fall!

What fall pieces have you added to your wardrobe?
