Welcome to the 29th edition of How I Wear My!
With rain and snow still ruling the weather forecast for so many of us, protective and full coverage footwear has become mandatory, so Jill of Everything Just So and I thought it was the perfect time to make this edition of “How I Wear My” all about boots!
Jill of starts us off with her look featuring ankle boots by Nine West. Jill says they are comfortable to walk in despite their 3-inch heel. And they are the only high heels she can walk around New York City in for several hours without getting blisters.
Her cardigan is from Banana Republic, the bag is Marc by Marc Jacobs and the aqua chalcedony pendant is by Julie Vos.
Fiona of Avenue 57, an outfit sharing website, wears her favorite cognac tall boots with a gorgeous scarf for a stylish winter look.
Ana of Mrs. American Made tells us:
“I love, love, love boots and I am lucky to live in a place where they are appropriate all year long and always in style. This is my winter look with tall leather vintage Frye boots, when they were all made in America, with a snuggly fleece and hat. I love the classic look of a tall leather riding-style boot but these are better for me because they have a heel, too.”
Heather of Vintage French Chic has this to say about her boots:
“I bought these distressed looking Earth Origins (“betty”) boots last fall while shopping for shoes that would be comfortable for my suffering feet. These were recommended by a website that specialized in finding shoes for problem feet. I loved them as soon as I saw them. They have been super comfortable to wear and I have received many compliments on them. It was nice to find something chic that worked for painful feet!”
Elsie of The Cooking Wardrobe lives in Australia where it is anything but cold and rainy this time of year. She wears a white pair of lace-up, open-toed shooties to show how boots can be worn even when it’s sweltering hot out!
Alice of Happiness at Mid-Life wears a favorite weekend staple: leggings with boots and an oversized sweater to keep her warm and cozy. The sweater is from Anthropology and the top is from Ann Taylor.
Wes of Life Through Preppy Glasses says this about his boots look:
“This winter has been especially brutal in the Northeast so I have been living in my LL Bean Boots. They are perfect for the slushy streets of New York. I pair them with khaki pants and a cashmere sweater for an easy, comfortable outfit perfect for any cold day.”
Deborah of The Beautiful Matters wears a pair of brown suede wedge boots and says:
“I love short booties because I have a hard time finding boots to go over my calves, and they’re so much easier to put on and take off. This wedge shape is nice because it gives me some height but also feels very sturdy. They zip up the back and have a tassel on the end of the zipper. I got them at DSW last winter.”
Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo Style Files has this to say about her boot look:
“This dress is one I picked up when we were on vacation in Florida this year from an Outlet mall for $25. It’s by Kasper. It is actually too large for me but because it has a tie belt I tie it behind and it makes the dress look much smaller. Also, of course, I wear an additional belt with it. I love leopard with my hair. Also you might notice the side slits on the dress. I love them. Subtle sexy. I think this might be a go-to dress for travel. It is polyester and can be bunched up in a ball and come out looking good as new.”
Peggy from The Simple Woman says:
“I am an advid movie goer and on this double feature day and I went in comfort! Warm black leather books, black leggings, gray sweater tunic and over it all, a favorite leather jacket. This time of year you need a splash of color, so I added the robin egg cami underneath and the green scarf was a hint of Spring, yet to come in my neck of the woods.”
Cynthia of My Rose Colored Shades believes, and rightly so:
“Every woman should have a pair of knee-high black boots in her closet. It’s not only a classic but such a versatile item. They instantly elevate your look no matter what you’re wearing.”
Silk Path Diary wears cognac suede ankle boots by Sam Edelman. She says that boots are the most comfortable types of footwear for her and she would never be able to live without them!
Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb wears deep purple suede tall boots with a lilac midi skirt and pink thrifted sweater for a vibrant springtime look!
What Lizzy Loves says her tan leather ankle boots work with so many things from jeans to boho-style dresses and they’re super comfy, too!
Sheree of It’s Not That Deep wears open-toed, high-heeled booties with a wide opening with a black feather mini skirt for a fabulous street-chic boot look.
Trina of Tea Time with Trina wears a favorite pair of cowgirl boots. Fun as well as comfortable, Trina loves to put them on whenever the mood strikes!
Kim of Northern California Style wears her Hunter boots to walk to the grocery store. She is carrying a tote from aPerfectColor which is made in Los Gatos where Kim lives and sold on her blog. Kim bought her colorful and stylish umbrella on a trip to Germany last summer.
I decided to wear my most comfortable and practical boots for this month’s How I Wear My. These combat boots from La Canadienne are not only a timeless classic but they are waterproof, warm and have never once given me any discomfort, even while walking miles and miles around Paris last year.
For April, let’s hope for the best weather wise and break out those skirts! There are so many styles to choose from—whether you prefer a classic pencil, A-line or miniskirt, or perhaps lean more toward a gloriously feminine pleated version or even a full skirt with a crinoline underneath!
Whichever you love, pull out your favorite and join us for “How I Wear My: Skirt.” Send a picture to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 31.
A big thank you to all of the participants this month!
