Happy Spring and welcome to the 47th post in the How I Wear My series!
The temperature is starting to rise but so are air-conditioner settings inside buildings which means a lightweight jacket is often required! Spring jackets are such an easy way to add color, texture, personality and sophistication to an ensemble that Jill of Everything Just So and I wanted to devote this month’s “How I Wear My” to them.
Jill gets How I Wear My Spring Jacket started with her look. She’s wearing a white Zara textured jacket that she says has been a particular favorite of hers this spring. Jill has been wearing it frequently with a Chanel pendant necklace she bought on eBay a few years ago, one of her favorite necklaces. Beautiful – the necklace, the jacket and Jill!
Nora of Jacket Society was the inspiration for this month’s How I Wear My theme. She says, “In my newest look from this week’s blog story I’m wearing our Sonoma stripe blazer in cream with three-quarter length sleeves, perfect for spring. I’m pairing it with my distressed jeans, a pink blouse and our own pink tassel scarf and pink fringe necklace all available on our web site.”
So pretty in pink, Nora. I personally love the “Sonoma” jacket for more reasons than one!
Greetje of No Fear of Fashion wears a green jacket that she says is perfect for traveling. “It’s lightweight, stretchy, and you don’t feel you are wearing it. After washing it (in the washing machine) you just hang it to dry. No ironing!” she tells us.
Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun says, “Here I tried styling a classic denim jacket in a new way, buttoned up over a dress. What do you think?”
Casual and feminine at the same time. What a great look for spring!
Bethany of Long Leggy and Loving It tells us, “To ward off the lingering spring chill, I’ve been wearing my lightweight cognac bomber jacket from Talltique on repeat the past few months. I love adding a peek of floral by layering a flower-print top, scarf (or both!) underneath the jacket.”
Cognac is a color that works in any season. I like the mix of blues with the rich cognac.
Tamera of Tamera Beardsley says of her spring jacket, “I rarely do prints of any kind, but this floral jacket has been a favorite of mine for years now! I pair it with distressed jeans, a vintage YSL lace blouse and colorful accessories. It is always a foolproof go-to outfit of mine for weekend flea and farmers markets!”
Gorgeous jacket on a gorgeous woman…and such a happy springtime look!
Yvonne of Funky Forty says. “As soon as Spring approaches my ‘go-to’ jacket has got to be my little jeans jacket – a real cheapy which I picked up in H&M whilst on vacation in Barcelona, so I still associate it with a special fond memory. I love wearing my jean jacket with almost anything, as soon as the weather becomes a little warmer. It allows me to wear my summer dresses a little earlier than I otherwise could have and it also helps to tone down very colourful outfits. This year in particular denim has made such a comeback that my little jacket has turned into my “go-to” – I love the fact that you can literally wear it with anything.”
Ana of Mrs. American Made wears a short military-style unlined khaki jacket by Current/Elliott. She says, “It lends a casual vibe as well as a slight layer of warmth over the more colorful Spring-y floral #madeinUSA Nanette Lepore sleeveless dress. And I love the many jacket pockets I can fill with stuff!”
Gotta love pockets! Combining military with floral makes such a stylish statement.
Linda of A Labour of Life says. “Is there anything better than a classic denim jacket and a maxi dress? Well maybe the two together with a pair of Converse. Bucking the white Converse trend, I invested in a pair of black Converse and am wearing them out. They go with everything! The perfect sightseeing outfit, touring Old Quebec the end of April was a tad bit chilly but I felt warm, stylish and comfortable.”
You can’t go wrong with a good denim jacket. Every wardrobe needs one…and a cute pair of sneakers!
Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo tells us, “I bought this pink gingham dress about 25 years ago (so I guess it’s vintage just like me!). This dress is proof that a great garment will never go out of style. It is by Mr. Jax, a high-end brand that was once made in Canada. The jacket is H&M. I adore this French inspired look.”
I have three words for Suzanne’s look: Ooh. La. La!
Nicole of High Latitude Style says, “This outfit is a casual weekend look. In summer, I often wear a jacket not for protection from chilly air, but airborne insects called mosquitoes. For the same reason it is more likely that I wear jeans or pants in summer than in the middle of the winter.”
Nicole always manages to looks fashionable while still managing the challenges of living in Alaska!
Dale of the blog, Savvy Spice, and the owner of Savvy Sleepers, wears a pastel spring jacket. She says, “Pastels have a way of making an outfit feel happy! I’ve been wearing this baby blue Zara jacket all Spring, from San Francisco to cooler afternoons in Zurich. I stole the ‘maternity look’ from Blake Lively and the light-weight boxy style has been perfect over my own baby bump.”
The Savvy Baby is due later this summer…so exciting!
This is Dale’s father-in-law, Marek who you can find on Instagram at @SavvySenior. He says, “We have a lot of rainy days here in Frankfurt, Germany so I wear my Zegna trench jacket over my Massimo Dutti jeans. My go-to men’s accessory is my Omega watch and of course an umbrella to hold for my lovely wife.”
What a gentleman and so well-dressed for springtime in Europe!
Sylvia of 40 Plus Style is wearing my favorite designer here in this chic and modern spring jacket look. She says, “This Stella Carakasi jacket looks great with white and is perfect for the outdoors.”
And it’s a terrific travel jacket because you don’t need to worry about it wrinkling. The material is made to looked wrinkled and even has metal in the fabric (3%). Such a fantastic look! I like the pop of red Sylvia’s sunglasses add to her outfit.
Beth of Style at a Certain Age says, “Spring is a great time to pull out the stripes. so why not double-up?
My jacket and sweater, both from Talbots.”
A lovely, classic look and excellent pattern-mixing!
Alice from Happiness at Mid-Life looks so springy and fresh in a coral jacket! She says, “With my navy and white outfit I am wearing, I wanted to add some color. This bright jacket did exactly just that.”
This look is ideal for the office, out to brunch with friends or for a night on the town!
Pam of Over 50 Feeling 40 says she received gift cards from some of her students’ parents at the end of the school year, so off to Chico’s she went to get ready for end-of-the-year parties.
Such a vibrant spring jacket and a great statement necklace!
Anne of Music and Markets Tours is seen here on a tour in Prague. She purchased the jacket in Aix en Provence in April. It’s a blush suede waterfall-style jacket with perforated sleeves.
She says, “The savvy saleslady at the boutique suggested the scarf and I sure do like the two together.”
I do too! Great look, Anne. I adore those perforated sleeves.
Trina of Tea Time With Trina says, “Here in Northern Utah a spring jacket is a must. You just never know what the weather will be like from one day to the next or from morning till night for that matter. With that being said, I have a closet full of jackets but this trusty white blazer from J. Crew is one of my favorites. It’s seriously the best investment a woman could ever make. This little number I can throw on with just about any given outfit. It’s also the jacket that does the most traveling in the spring and summer months with me.”
Trina’s outfit is both classic and fun. You have got to love the tailored blazer and pencil skirt paired with an angry Mickey Mouse t-shirt and fabulous red heels. Bravo, Trina!
Sandee, my longtime friend, business partner at The Rich Life says, “Here in the San Francisco Bay Area a light leather jacket is perfect for spring. I love this leather bomber jacket I got at GAP several years ago. Really soft, nude leather…a feminine take on a traditionally masculine look. For day, I wear it with all white – today my J.Crew white Toothpick Jean – at night, I pair it with a black fitted dress or dark denim.”
Both edgy and feminine!
Living here in the California Wine Country, lightweight spring jackets come in very handy. It’s all about layers, especially this time of year. I have several of spring jackets in my closet. This one is my current favorite, a Stella Carakasi Made For Me Jacket in Shitake Vintage.
Thank you to all the stylish participants!
