How I Wear My: Clutch

How I Wear My: Clutch

Welcome to the 48th post in the How I Wear My series!

Summer is the season for alfresco dining, casual parties and rooftop get-togethers, so what could be easier than throwing on your favorite dress or pair of capris and carrying a lovely clutch to all those soirées you’ve been invited to? Jill of Everything Just So and I agree that a clutch seemed the perfect wardrobe item to focus on for July’s “How I Wear My” roundup!

To kick off How I Wear My: Clutch, let’s see how my How I Wear My partner, Jill of Everything Just So, wears hers. She says, “I’m wearing a linen shirt and necklace by J. Crew, white capris by Old Navy, and a gorgeous L’Wren Scott gold clutch I picked up last summer on eBay, from her “Serengeti Sunset” collection. It is the perfect summer clutch!”

What a beautiful and versatile clutch!

Nora of Jacket Society says, “I am wearing our summer Solstice vest in tangerine ( a best seller on our web site) with my Rag & Bone skinny jeans, white tank top and and saddle color leather belt, sandals and my favorite clutch that I got from “The Limited” a long time ago. I love the color of the leather. The Solstice vest and my tassel necklace are both available on our web site.”

Such a stylish color combination for summer!

Ana of Mrs. American Made tells us,  “I am more of a satchel girl, but my secret is that I usually have this gorgeous handmade “byElke” red envelope clutch in my purse and it contains the essentials so I can easily transfer it between larger bags. Here I am wearing it with a neutral #madeinUSA outfit of dark top and jacket and casual jeans so the clutch adds a pop of color for movie night.”

Chic in black with just the right amount of color!

Alice of Happiness at Mid-Life wears a Forever 21 leopard clutch that she says has been a closet staple. She says, “I use it all the time and it seems to go with everything I wear. I love how a clutch can dress up an outfit.”

What fun pattern and texture mixing here!

Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun wears a darling black summer dress and spiced it up with an edgy studded clutch and some red vintage Prada sandals.

Summer sophistication!

Malia of Style by Malia looks simply “dazzling” with her Kate Spade clutch. She says, “This Be Dazzling clutch was a must for me. I added a black tulle skirt from Ashley Stewert and a Black Cropped tee from Eloquii and my go-to Glitter peep toes from Nine West. This is a great look for a summer night out with my girlfriends.”

The clutch says it all! Such a fun look from head to toe.

Susan of Une Femme d’un Certain Age tells us, “This metallic clutch is a few years old, from Eileen Fisher. I like that it has a wrist strap for a hands-free option so I can enjoy both a glass of wine AND the hors d’oeuvres!”

Those are my kind of priorities! I love the soft ivory shades with gray. Feminine and stylish!

Cynthia of My Rose Colored Shades carries a brightly colored clutch and says, it’s is an easy way to add a pop of color to an outfit.

This is a stunning, eye-catching look!

Susan of High Heels in the Wilderness tells us, “I’m attending a small wedding in August and thought I would try wearing my black Rag and Bone layered silk tank top with this black skirt instead of a dress. The layers of the tank actually make it look almost like a “flapper” dress. Hmmm maybe I should wear one of my long necklaces from the 20’s? The event is informal so I’ll wear my flat sandals and bring this multicoloured pashmina for warmth. And my clutch – my favourite and only clutch – once belonged to my grandmother. It was handmade in Montreal in the 1940’s and has her initials embossed on it. I’ve always loved it, and in a way, over the years, Grammy has come with me to all my important events”.

What a special treasure!

Teresa, wife of New York City photographer, Denton Taylor, wears a teal blue Celine dress, a straw hat with a Pucci scarf, and a purple vintage snakeskin clutch via ebay at the Governor’s Island Jazz Lawn Party.

Great photograph and a beautiful outfit!

April of Mrs. B in the Bay Area tells us, “This is my absolute favorite clutch! I bought it at Francesca’s about a year ago and it is one of those pieces that just goes with everything. It’s actually made of cork and I can’t believe the number of compliments I get on this simple accessory that I bought for such a great price! ;-)!”

April started her blog about a month ago. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

Julie, my French friend who lives in Paris, wears all white with pops of red and a little pink to visit the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. She tells us, “I was very much inspired by your How I Wear My White, for my outfit. This is my week-end bag, I change it every Friday.”

Julie looks so fresh and summery in her outfit. Très chic!

For this theme, since Sandee, my business partner at Shop The Rich Life, and I were featuring the same clutch, we decided to grab a couple of glasses of wine and have some fun taking How I Wear My photos together.

We are both carrying an Adora clutch. A matching clutch comes with every Adora tote bag and is attached to one of the handles with a removable strap.

The clutch is an envelope style and is just the right sized purse when you don’t want to carry around a big bag. I can fit my phone, a small wallet, keys and a tube lip gloss.

Sandee chose the Cobalt blue clutch to go with a navy and ivory silk tunic and skinny jeans.

I carried the Burnt Orange Adora* to add some color to my neutral outfit of white J. Crew jeans and a Stella Carakasi High Concept Tunic.

We accessorized with Leather Wrap bracelets (that also double as chokers).

As usual with my partner in style and photoshoots, things got silly. I guess the vino was kicking in!

What a great group of clutch looks for July! Thank you to all the participants this month. We love to see how you show off your individual style.

For August, those dog days of summer, grab your straw hat, you are going to need it to block that sun from your face and keep your cool! Nothing says summer like a straw hat, whether you wear it on the beach or while strolling the boardwalk, whether you are sipping rosé at an outdoor café or sitting in the stands at a Grand Slam tennis tournament.

Would Sandee be willing to share where her navy and ivory silk tunic is from? I absolutely love it! Thank you!

Hi Eve – I asked Sandee this morning and she said it’s by Ronen Chen. She bought it one day while we were shopping together in Santa Rosa at a shop called FY Bliss. If you’re not local, you can find it on the Ronen Chen website – it’s called the Eve Top – isn’t that something? And it’s on sale! Let me know if you need the link and I will email it to you.
I think I might want to buy one too! It’s so beautiful.
